“And you think that is going to interest you more than baking?” George asked. “I’ve never even seen you interested in makeup. Not even when you were growing up. In fact, Mom got you a makeup kit and you tossed it out.”

“People change. If I recall, Mom said you wanted to be a cop, a sheriff, a fireman, and look at you now, you’re a biker.”

“We’re not talking about me,” George said.

“It doesn’t matter who we talk about. All that matters is people change. We all do. You know it. I know it. We all know it.” She sighed. “And now it’s time for me to change.”

“Is this because of the club? I promise you, Harlow, I would never let anything happen to you.”

“It’s not about the club or the car accident, or anything. This is about me and what I want and what I need. That is all, and as my big brother, I thought you might be happy for me.”

George sighed. “I am happy for you, but that doesn’t stop me from worrying about you as well. I love you, you fucking idiot.”

Harlow laughed and then squealed as he pulled her in and hugged her.

“All you’ve got to do is give me a name. Give me a name and I will fucking end him.”

“Not going to happen. Let it go,” Harlow said.

She hugged her brother tightly.

George sighed. “I don’t like this, but I will support you. I’ll be here.”

She smiled and then walked him over to the door and let him out. No one had to like it. This was for her, not him.

Going to her kitchen, she pulled open the fridge and took out her lunch, sliding it into her bag. She checked the windows and the security, and then grabbed her jacket. As she opened the front door, she stopped when she saw Hunter.

It had been several days since she last saw him at the hospital, and she thought that would be the last time.

“We need to talk,” Hunter said.

“No, we don’t.” She stepped out of her apartment and closed the door, flicking the locks into place.

Not only had her mother made her apartment homey, but her father had installed several new locks, which she was thankful for. She needed to bake them a cake as a way of saying thank you.

“Do you not want to talk about what happened?”

Harlow finished locking her door and turned to Hunter. “No, I don’t want to talk to you. We’re done, remember?”

She was not going to think about his words and she was not going to be that woman. She was moving on.

“Harlow, stop being childish.”

She had started to make her way toward the main stairwell. Even with the good things happening to her apartment, the building itself was still a fucking mess.

Whirling around, she glared at him. “No, you don’t get to do that. You don’t get to try and make any of this better. Like you said, it’s over between us. There is no fixing this. We’re fucking through. I get it. I’m not going to say anything. My brother will never know what happened. Nor will the club. This is our secret. They don’t need to know that you were the father of my child. No one will know.”

With that, she took the steps two at a time and didn’t look back. Her heart raced. Why did he have to turn up? She was doing so well.

She left the building and kept walking, making her way into town. It was cold as fuck, but she could handle it. In the distance, she heard a bike, but she didn’t need to turn around nor watch.

It was Hunter, and they were over.

Big Dick sat at the bar, drinking his beer. It was early and he prided himself on not being an early drinker, but right now, he felt like his fucking gift had abandoned him.

The club pussy didn’t appeal, but if he was being honest, it hadn’t appealed in months, and it wasn’t down to a certain woman working at the club. Fuck, no. The pussy just didn’t have the same excitement as it did previously. He was in a rut. That was all this was.

Finding people had never been a problem to him. He could handle anything that was thrown at him. But right now, he was pissed off and angry.

Twisted Bastards MC always seemed to be one step ahead of him. No one was ever one step ahead of him. He knew where they were at all times.

Sipping his beer, he couldn’t help but think about Harlow. Was the guy who knocked her up one of the Twisted? No, Harlow wasn’t that fucking stupid.

“Here, this was left for you.”

Big Dick tensed up as Larissa stepped close to him. The lemony scent that always surrounded her pissed him off. She had stopped working for Smokey, seeing as she now worked at the bakery, taking his sister’s job. He didn’t like this prudish little woman. She grated on his last nerve.
