I hold her thigh tight as I move out of Ekert’s way and force myself to watch as he lines the tiny points of his piercing gun up exactly where he wants the hoop to go. He’s shockingly steady, and he’d have to be to do this job. It’s one thing to sell jewelry. It’s another thing entirely to be the one who pierces his customers.

Ekert takes only a few seconds longer than he did with her nipples, and with a small pop of the piercing gun, it’s over. He smiles as he leans back. He hands me a tube of ointment, which I tuck into my pocket.

I take his spot and slide my hands along Sara’s inner thighs. I’ve never seen anything prettier in my life, except maybe her pierced nipples, but I like the fact that this piercing is private. Not many people will see it. Doctors and perhaps occasionally someone who sees me change her diaper, but mostly just me.

Sara hasn’t lifted her head yet. She’s breathing heavily. “How does it look?”

I kiss her pelvis right above the piercing. “Prettiest thing ever, Little one. I’m so proud of you for being so brave.”

Ekert lifts Sophie from her perch next to Sara and carries her out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Sara is still shaking as I remove all the restraints. She hasn’t looked yet.

I come to the side and kiss both her nipples reverently before kissing her lips. “I love you, Sara.”

“I love you, too, Papi.” She’s trembling.

“Are you going to look?”

“I’m too nervous. I can’t feel it at all.”

“You will when the numbness wears off.” I grip her chin with my fingers and hold her gaze. “I don’t want you in pain, understand? When any of these start to hurt, I will numb them again.”

“Yes, Sir,” she readily agrees. My girl isn’t interested in being in pain any more than I am.

I pull the salve from my pocket and open the tube to squeeze a small amount onto my fingers. As I gently rub it onto the spots where the piercing enters her clitoral hood, she finally lifts her head.

A soft gasp escapes her lips. “I can’t believe I did that. I don’t think I ever would have been brave enough to do something like that on Earth.”

I smile at her. “You’re very brave, my Little songbird.”

“Can I practice on your weird piano when we get home?”

I chuckle. My girl does not know the meaning of relaxing. Now that she can walk, it’s go, go, go all the time. Her piercings aren’t even five minutes old and already her mind has moved on to music.

“Please, Papi?”

I must have taken too long to answer. As I put a clean diaper on her, I nod. “Of course you can, Little one. I’ll be happy to give you lessons myself.”

Her eyes light up. “You will?”

“Silly girl. You’re my lifemate. I’ll do anything for you.” I help her sit upright, kiss her once again, and lean back far enough to get my first look at the pretty stones now that they’re dangling from her nipples.

She shivers as she stares at them. “Lots of people get nipple piercings on Earth, but they don’t show them to other people. That’s the weirdest part of all. I wonder how long it will take before it will seem natural to me to spend my life without anything covering my breasts.”

I kiss both gorgeous tips again before I swoop her into my arms, careful not to put any pressure against them. “You’ll get used to it, Baby girl. You’re the most amazing Little ever to arrive on Eleadia.”

Chapter Twenty-One

Two weeks later…

Sara

I’ve never been so excited in my life as I am when we get home from my one-month checkup at the clinic. Chadka looked at my voice box and declared me totally healed.

Until today, I have not pressed myself to extend my range too far. The doctors and Papi agreed it was best not to strain myself prematurely, so I have only been humming and singing in a small range.

Now, I’m officially released from voice prison, and I can’t wait to get into Papi’s studio. I’ve been practicing on his piano for two weeks, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. I figured I would at least use the time to learn the instrument I will spend most of my time on from now on.

As promised, I didn’t belt out the lyrics to any of my newest songs, but I have written two new pieces entirely while anxiously awaiting the day when the doctor would declare me officially free to sing to my heart’s content.

I can’t wait to sing what I’ve written. The scores are both waiting for me to try them out loud. I’ve heard the songs in my head hundreds of times, but that’s not the same as finally singing out loud.
