I felt light-headed and floaty but also more profoundly aware of every square inch of my body than I’d ever been before. The cornsilk texture of the hair at Hux’s nape, the sweetness of his mouth, the hardness of his thighs supporting me.

My brain was a janky montage of snaps and fizzling sparks. I wanted to moan in appreciation, but since I was more likely to break out in hysterical giggles, I forced myself not to make a noise.

I was kissing Jasper Huxley. Correction: Jasper Huxley was kissing me. And I didn’t care how we’d gotten here or what was going to come next. I just never, ever wanted this kiss to end.

HUX

This kiss needed to stop.

It was ridiculous. Inappropriate. Outrageous.

A post-op adrenaline rush gone terribly wrong.

Possibly the stupidest thing I’d ever done.

But, I thought as his fingers stroked over my neck and my gut tightened, it was also turning out to be the most enjoyable.

It was impossible to believe that I’d deluded myself into thinking I didn’t want this man. I wanted him desperately—wanted to kiss his soft lips until he begged for air, wanted to hold his slender, willing body against mine until we were fused together. Even the thought of stopping made my arms tighten around his back to pull him against me more firmly.

I used my other hand to gently remove his sexy glasses before setting them on the desk. The tip of his nose was pink from my whiskers, and his lips were red and shiny from my kisses.

“Fuck,” I whispered hoarsely as another wave of desire swamped me. I cupped the back of his head and pulled him in to fuse our mouths together once more.

All I could think of was tearing his clothes off and running my hands all over his naked body. I couldn’t decide what I wanted more: to suck his dick or fuck him. Either would be good, and whichever I didn’t do first, I could do next.

Right when I’d decided to start by sucking him off, I heard a loud buzz. Both of us were so startled, we tumbled off my chair into a tangled heap of limbs on the floor.

Kev spat out a curse and scrambled to get up. “The door. The door!”

“Kevin? Huxley?” came a muffled call.

Realizing one of my teammates was likely on the other side of the door was like waking up from a fever dream to a bucket of very cold water.

What the fuck was I doing kissing Kevin Rogers?

I stood up and straightened my clothes—adjusting my pants, in particular—before running fingers through my hair in hopes of taming whatever Kev’s fingers had done to it.

“Your glasses,” I whispered, pointing to them on the desk.

“This never happened,” Kev said, pointedly not looking at me. He shoved his glasses on crookedly, swiped at his mouth with one shaking hand, and turned to face his monitors.

I blinked at his back. “What?” I asked stupidly.

I was the one who was supposed to regret it, not him. It had been his idea, after all.

Hadn’t it?

“You and me. Never happened,” he repeated, reaching over to a button on his desk so that his door opened with a whoosh.

“But—” Before I could argue with him—because no matter how much had changed between us in the past day, if Kev said a thing didn’t happen, I was going to say it did—Champ came through the door into Kev’s lair, and I belatedly dropped into the second chair.

“Uh.” I cleared my throat. “Hey, boss. I was going to open the door for you. Forgot Kev had everything automated. Good day, huh? Almost half the Horns accounted for! Feeling pumped about planning to get the next few. How about you?”

Champ narrowed his eyes suspiciously, his gaze pinging from me to Kev and back again. In my head, I heard Kev saying, “Too much,” just like he had when Elvo had tried to oversell his story, so I clamped my lips firmly together and gave Champ a bland look.

“Yeah,” Champ agreed finally. “It was a good day, and I’d like to plan the next missions… which is why I texted you several times to come upstairs for a team meeting.” He raised one blond eyebrow. “Might wanna check that your phone is operational.”

“Oh. Uh. Yes, sir,” I mumbled, reaching for my phone on Kev’s desk. I was mortified.

Champ grunted in response, still looking back and forth between Kev and me. “Everything good here?”

“Everything’s great here,” I informed him. “Really… great.”

“Yeah. All good,” Kev said softly without turning around.

“Hmm.” Champ folded his arms over his chest. “Kev, if Huxley drives you crazy, you’d let me know, right?”

“Hey,” I squawked in protest.

“Yeah, no. I… nothing happened,” Kev assured him. “We’ll be up in a minute.”

The moment Champ left and the doors slid shut behind him, I shot Kev a glare. “Something happened. It very much happened. And it’s going to happen again, Kevin Rogers. Get used to the idea.”
