“You can say that again, brother.” Law clanked his beer with Knox’s. “Though I haven’t been married, but I don’t plan on it.”

Griff added, “This fucker got laid everywhere we went. I swear to Christ it was like he had some magic formula or something.” As if Griff couldn’t have done the same. He never did because he’d chosen not to.

“Viagra?” Knox teased.

“Aw, does Knoxy struggle to get it up?” Law tossed back at him.

“Fuck you. I can assure you that’s not a problem.” Knox grabbed his cock for good measure.

“This one time…” Griff launched into stories about our adventures when we were younger and precarious situations he’d caught me in. I couldn’t say he was lying. It hadn’t stopped after I left Havenwood either, except I added men to the mix now. While I sure as shit never planned on giving my heart away, I didn’t have the same qualms about getting my dick wet.

We went back and forth between the four of us, Griff going off to make drinks and making his way back to us when he could. It became a discussion of sex and sports because both went well with beer.

Knox and Law were great. I liked them and felt like I would get along well with both of them. As far as I knew they were both straight, but every once in a while I caught Lawson giving me a look that made me wonder…and one that probably wasn’t recognizable to anyone who wasn’t looking for it.

“Holy shit!” a female voice said behind me, and I knew without looking that it was Becca. “Chase Hawthorne, is that really you?”

I turned around just as Griff said, “Aw, come on, Bec. Don’t pretend you didn’t know he was back. This is Havenwood.”

“Stop ruining my game, Caine.” She flipped him off, and I smiled because she was still the Becca I knew.

“Hey. It’s good to see you.” I pushed off the stool and gave her a hug. She wrapped her arms around me tightly. I’d missed her. Bec had always been a fun girl to hang around.

“It’s so good to see you, Chase. You look good.”

“Thanks, Bec. You too.”

We pulled back, and she signaled to the blonde with her. “This is my cousin Cynthia. She moved from Baltimore to stay with me for a while. Cynthia, this is Chase, Lawson, Knox, and Griff.”

Cynthia’s eyes lingered on Griff longer than the rest of us. Griff noticed she wanted him, but he rarely hooked up. Griffin was the guy who took people he cared about seriously, and I couldn’t ever see him having meaningless relationships.

I offered Becca my seat, and both Knox and Law scrambled off theirs for Cynthia, who turned them both down, which meant they continued to stand because they sure as shit weren’t sitting while a woman was standing. I did the same.

“I can’t believe you’re back,” Becca said. “What have you been up to?”

I told her a little about the past ten years of my life, and Becca did the same. Griff gave everyone a drink, then another, but I’d said no. Becca touched me more and more as we spoke, and I had to admit, I liked her hands on me. She was gorgeous, always had been, and we were both single, so why not?

Her hand found a spot at the back of my neck, and she danced her fingers through the hair at my nape. Fuck, I’d always loved that. Felt like a dog, and any minute I’d be shaking my leg, it felt so good. Becca looked over at me and winked because she knew I liked it.

There was a noise behind me, coming from the door. When I looked over, Kellan was walking in with Natalie and Josh, who had his arm around him. Our eyes locked immediately, like they were drawn together and he knew I would be exactly where I was, looking back at him. I shifted suddenly, the weight of Becca’s hand on my neck too heavy, but then Kellan looked away from me. Josh kissed the top of his head, and the three of them went to the other side of the bar, toward the pool tables.

“Chase?” Becca said, and from the sound of it, I could tell it wasn’t the first time she’d said my name.

I pulled my attention away from Kellan and his friends. “Sorry, what did you say?”

“Do you want another beer?”

“Nah, I’m good, thanks. Gotta drive tonight. How’s everyone getting home?” I asked, because I had to.

“I don’t drink. I’m at work,” Griff said.

“Cynthia’s my DD,” Becca added.

Both Law and Knox said something about a car service, and then they gave me shit, calling me sir and asking if I was going to arrest them.

“What’s up?” I heard from the other side of me, Josh’s voice rubbing me the wrong way. I didn’t get this guy and his friendship with Kellan. Was it more than we thought? But then, would Kellan have tried to hook up with me?
