“How are you doing, kitten?”

She moaned. “Good.”

He chuckled. “I’ll have to work harder then. I can’t let you settle for good.” Licking his thumb, he circled her dark hole. “Do you want my finger here?”

She leaned into the touch. “Stop teasing and do it already.”

Fuck.

He sank his thumb into her ass and slammed home, burying his cock inside her to the hilt. His balls pulled up into his groin. His thighs shook. He was going to explode. Gritting his teeth, he pulled out an inch. She was so wet. So ready. He grabbed her hip in one hand and started pumping. Each thrust was enough to make him come, but he gnashed his teeth harder. He had to make it last.

She whimpered. “Harder.”

He gave her what she needed, increasing his pace and slamming their bodies together.

“Sean.” Her breath caught on a hitch. “I’m close.”

So was he. He pulled his thumb from her ass and speared his cock through her folds one last time. He was going to pull out, but she clenched her inner muscles around him and grinded her ass against his groin.

“Kitten.” He clenched his jaw so hard he swore his teeth would crack. “Let go.”

The little minx rotated her hips.

Fuck! His control snapped. He pounded into her hard enough to break her body in two. Her inner muscles gripped him hard, setting off his climax. Pleasure ripped through his body as he emptied himself inside her. The spasms milking his cock dry told him she was coming, too. He pumped through her aftershocks, taking everything she had to give, and when she was empty too, he lowered himself over her back and caught his weight on his arms. Wrapping an arm around her, he cupped her breast.

Breathing hard, they went down onto the ground. His T-shirt formed a barrier for their lower bodies while their legs and arms rested on the sand. Keeping his weight on his elbows, he cupped her hands that were laying next to her face and intertwined their fingers. He wanted to touch every part of her. He didn’t want a breath of air between them. When she turned her face to the side and closed her eyes, he kissed her cheek. Holding her like this was heaven. The sand was warm underneath them and the sun pleasant on their backs. For a few minutes, he’d pretend they didn’t have bad history. He’d pretend this was their own little paradise.

Rolling onto his side, he brought her with him and pulled her tight against his body. It felt good. Right. He closed his eyes and listened to her breathing. When he dozed off, his softening cock was still buried inside her.

A muffled scream penetrated Sean’s sleep. He woke with a start. Asia fought in his arms, twisting and kicking with her feet.

“Kitten.” He turned her onto her back and lifted on his elbows over her. “Wake up.”

“Don’t,” she said with a sob.

He cupped her cheek. “Wake up.”

She fought harder, slapping his arms and shoulders.

He caught her wrists. “Asia!”

Her eyes flew open. She stared at him with a wild and terrified expression.

“It’s me,” he said softly.

What he saw on her face tore him up inside. Sand stuck to her cheek and hair. She looked lost and messed up, and it fucked with his mind.

Releasing her wrists, he wrapped his arms around her. “I’m here, kitten.” He planted a kiss in her neck. “Are you still dreaming about it?”

When she pushed on his chest, he let her up. She dragged her knees to her chin and folded her arms around them.

“Fuck, kitten.” He speared his fingers through his hair. If he couldn’t hold her, he didn’t know what to do with his hands. It made him feel useless. “Maybe you should talk to someone, a doctor who can help you.”

“It’s nothing.” She looked away. “I haven’t dreamt about it since…”

He sat back on his heels. “Since when?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

The truth dropped like a stone in his stomach. “Since I returned.” He was setting off her nightmares. Knowing he was the cause of them gutted him. He needed to fix what he’d broken. Fix her. “I’ll find you the best doctor. I’ll go with you. We’ll—”

“Sean.”

Her quiet manner made him pause.

She gave him a sad smile. “Stop. It can never work.”

“You don’t know that. There are treatments—”

“I’m not talking about treatments.” He didn’t want to hear it, but she said it anyway. “I’m talking about us.”

“You don’t know that either,” he said fervently. “We’ll work it out if you give us another chance.”

She shook her head. “I don’t know how to trust you.”

I don’t know how to trust you.

Pushing to his feet, he stumbled away from her.

“Sean.”

He couldn’t look at her. If he did, he’d have to face the truth. Instead, he picked up their clothes.

“Sean, I—”

He turned to her with the bundle of fabric in his arms. “Shh.” Kneeling in front of her, he dumped the clothes at her feet and brushed the sand from her cheek.
