I parked and passed my key to the valet before making my way inside, feeling tons better at the looks I got from the men I passed on my way in. By the time I reached the bar I was wondering what I’d been so worried about. I’ve never seen anyone pay this much attention to that Holly bitch, except for Gage that is, and he was the only one that mattered.
The thought dampened my spirits just a little and I ordered a martini dry to help pick me up again. I engaged the bartender, batting my lashes and crossing my legs where he could see them over the bar, something I knew would get someone as simple as him to fall into my hands with ease.
I talked about nothing in particular to kill time until it was past time for her lesson to be over. When I didn’t see her come in I checked my watch again to be sure. My nerves were starting to act up again and I wanted to have my doubts put to rest as soon as possible.
I didn’t see her or her two hangers on when I stepped into the doorway of the dining room and wasn’t sure what I should do next. I could ask the bartender but what would he know? Then again he might’ve heard something in passing.
I took my seat at the bar now feeling flustered and out of my depth. I hate this feeling of catching at straws. Of once again being on the outside of everything looking in. I should’ve pushed Lucille for more before letting her leave.
I nursed one more drink before my luck changed and Seth the tennis coach came through the door. I put on my best smile as soon as he looked my way with a come hither look added for good measure. I wasn’t surprised when he made a beeline for me and took the seat next to mine.
“Hello beautiful, I didn’t expect to see you here today.” If only he was richer he would’ve made a good choice for husband number two. Good looks, charming and a dick like a python. Too bad his bank account didn’t come with a few more zeroes. No reason I shouldn’t keep him in the wings just in case. Unless I land Gage that is.
“Hi yourself, you done for the day?” He nodded his head and I waited for him to order his drink of sparkling water with lime, giving myself time to come up with the right way to ask him what I wanted to know. I had to make the question seem as offhanded as possible so as not to raise any suspicions.
After a little small talk with a heavy dose of flirting I got around to asking him what I wanted to know. “I didn’t see Holly today, I thought she had a class, I was hoping to run into her to ask her something.” He took a sip of his drink before turning back to me.
“She didn’t come in today, in fact she’s cancelled her lessons for the duration. Nice lady though, she paid up and added a nice bonus to boot.”
“Oh, that’s strange, we just spoke a few days ago and she didn’t say anything to me about quitting.”
“I think it was sudden, some kind of medical thing.” He shrugged his shoulders as I felt the first pang of panic set in.
“Medical thing? Like what? Did she sprain her ankle or something?”
“She didn’t share that much with me.” He went back to drinking and talking to the bartender and didn’t notice me slip away.
All the way home my mind was in turmoil. She wouldn’t have quit the whole season over a sprained ankle, that would only have taken a few weeks at most to heal. So what else could it be and how am I going to find out?

I saw my baby for the first time today. No telling what it is just yet since it’s still too early, but just seeing the little form and hearing its heartbeat was more than enough to satisfy me. I asked the doctor all the questions I had learned to ask from reading the books I’d bought and was satisfied that all was going well with my wife and child.
Holly’s appetite for food and sex has grown exponentially in the past month since finding out she was pregnant though she wasn’t showing and had no other signs that she was even carrying my child other than the morning sickness that seemed to show up at all hours of the day.
The doctor had given me peace of mind across the board especially when it comes to making love, which we’ve been doing around the clock these days. Like I said, her appetite has doubled and she was now looking for dick almost as much as I use to seek her out to fuck in the past.
