Morgan, Rose, and Georgiana were missing, but Lily, Hunter, and Brad were all sitting down. Hunter and Brad were both talking to women I didn’t recognize. Most likely tourists. Lily was talking to one of her friends.

I stopped at Ryan’s table and gave him a slap on the back. He turned and flashed me a wide smile. “Dude, it’s about time you showed up.”

Leaning down, I kissed Mindy on the cheek. “How’s it going?”

“Good!” she shouted over the music. “I got a glimpse of Georgiana. Still as pretty as ever.”

I rolled my eyes, and Ryan laughed. “It wasn’t two minutes before someone asked her to dance.”

Trying to ignore a pang of jealousy, I pulled a chair out and swung it around, straddling it as I looked out over the dance floor. “Good for her.”

I could see Ryan and Mindy exchange a look.

“No sparks between the two of you?” Mindy asked.

Glancing at her, I laughed. “We were in high school, Mindy. There’s nothing there anymore.”

I wondered if my two best friends could tell I was lying through my teeth. From the moment Georgie had opened her hotel door this morning, I’d been thinking about her non-stop, and it was pissing me off.

Mindy nodded. “That’s good, because she’s already danced with like four different guys. The girl can’t come and sit down before someone else asks her to dance. She just might be getting lucky later.”

Lifting my hand, I motioned to the waitress for a beer while I ignored Mindy. I knew she was saying those things on purpose to get a rise out of me, and I refused to let it work.

“Like I said, good for her.”

I tried not to make it obvious that I was scanning the dance floor looking for Georgiana. My searching came to an abrupt stop when I saw her dancing with Tim Jones. The way Georgie was looking up at him while laughing made me want to put my fist through his face.

The song ended and she quickly stepped away and seemed to thank him before making her way off the dance floor. Another song started—“Sounds Like Something I’d Do” by Drake Milligan. Glancing at Mindy, I raised a brow.

“Want to kick it up?”

“Hell yes!”

We both stood, and I took her hand. I’d been dancing with Mindy for as long as I could remember, and I always liked it. We could cut a rug on the dance floor, no doubt about it.

I drew Mindy into my arms, and we started to two-step, throwing in a bit of swing dancing as well.

“Tell me you’re not using me right now, Blayze Shaw.”

Giving her a shit-eating grin, I replied, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“We haven’t danced in forever, and the one night a girl from your past is here, you want to spin me all around the floor.”

“You’re thinking too much.”

“Am I? Then go ask her to dance. Next slow song.”

Laughing, I looked down at Mindy. “Why? What in the hell would that prove?”

Her eyes turned soft, and I saw something I really hated seeing. Pity.

“That you’re not scared to let someone in, Blayze.”

Looking away, I bit the inside of my cheek and counted to ten in order to get my emotions back in check.

“I’m not scared of falling in love, Mindy. And I am not even remotely interested in Georgie that way.”

She took a step away. “Really? Because when you saw her dancing with Tim Jones, you looked like you were ready to come unglued. You’ve got to learn to trust again.”

“I’m not interested, Mindy. Will you drop it?”

Mindy exhaled and looked down at the floor, then back up at me. “I’m sorry I pushed you. If you’re not interested, you’re not interested.”

Turning on her heels, she headed off the dance floor.

“Fuck,” I mumbled as I pushed my hand through my hair and looked around. It seemed like no one had paid attention to that exchange.

I made my way back to the table where Mindy and Ryan were sitting. Glancing over, I saw Georgie in conversation with Rose.

I sat down and looked at Mindy. “I didn’t mean to jump at you.”

She gave me a sweet smile. “It’s okay. I was being pushy, as usual.”

I laughed.

Turning to look at Georgie, I sighed. If only to prove to Mindy I wasn’t afraid, I stood and made my way over to her.

“Would you like to dance, Georgie?” I asked with my mouth right at her ear. She shivered, and I kind of hoped it was because of me.

Rose’s face lit up, as did Lily’s. I had no idea where my sister Morgan was—most likely dancing.

The song changed as Georgie stood and took my hand. She had the most beautiful smile on her face, and I had to fight the urge to pull her out of the damn bar and take her back to my house.
