“You will feel better after we mate,” he said casually.

“After we mate? Do you mean have sex?” she sputtered. “That will never happen.”

“It will. You hurt now. There is a growing tension in your body that can’t be eased. This is how the bond always appears.”

“Well, it’s just my lucky day, isn’t it?” Aurora shook her head. She didn’t understand why she was reacting like this.

He just studied her. It felt intimate, as if he could see inside her and past her bravado. She didn’t understand why she’d instantly felt better with him close to her.

Confused, Aurora turned away to stare out the window. She tried to gather herself as she battled the tears that threatened. “Look. I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t understand any of this and now, you’re…”

He moved behind her and caged her in place by pressing his hands to each side of the window frame in front of her. Aurora tried to control her arousal at his dominance. His scent wrapped around her, making that attempt even more impossible. She stiffened her muscles to lock herself in place as the heat from his body made her want to press against him.

“I’m an unfeeling dragon?” he suggested.

“Yes!”

“Not quite unfeeling, mate.” He wrapped one powerful arm around her body to pull her fully against him.

She shivered at the feel of his hard body surrounding hers. That small movement made her aware of how aroused Drake was as well. Relief flooded her as she understood that whatever this was between them worked both ways. His thick cock pressed against her. Aurora felt her already damp panties become drenched in reaction.

As his warm breath wafted over the sensitive skin of her neck, Aurora heard him inhale deeply and knew he could smell her arousal. Never had she shared such an intimate moment with another man. He was completely focused on her. When he pressed his fiery hot mouth to that sensitive spot where her shoulder met the column of her neck, her heart rate sped up. His teeth bit lightly into her flesh, claiming her. The moan that tumbled from her lips was low and desperate. These feelings were so different than her other experiences with men.

A growl resounded in her mind. “You will not think of them… Your previous lovers. I would hate to hunt them down for a flambé.”

“You can read my mind?” she whispered.

“No. Your scent changed. I knew you were thinking of the ignorant men who allowed you to get away. I am not as foolish.”

His mouth pressed against her neck this time. The heat inside her spiked and she arched her head to the opposite side to allow him greater access. Aurora couldn’t resist whatever was going on between the two of them. His hands stroked down her arms. The feel of his skin against hers drove her wild.

She twisted in the confined space to face him. Searching his face, she loved the fiery desire blazing from his eyes. She’d never felt so wanted. Drake wrapped a hand around her head and brought her lips to meet his. That first kiss was not a tender one. It demanded everything of her.

His taste wiped away all her inhibitions and Aurora responded to the passion between them. She raised her arms to wrap around his neck. Clinging to his body, she loved his deep kisses as he explored her mouth fully, their tongues tangling and mating in the exchange.

When he ripped his mouth away from hers, a guttural protest burst from her throat. “No!”

“Take a deep breath, Little one. I’m not rejecting you. Our first time together will not take place on your grandparents’ floor. Go gather your things,” he demanded, stepping back from her.

Aurora nodded. She tried to force her legs to take a step, but they did not cooperate. It was as if something magnetic held them together.

“Go, Little one.”

That brusque command released her. Aurora hurried from the room and headed for the pink bedroom. She threw her things together haphazardly. Thoughts zinged around in her mind. What was she doing? This couldn’t be happening. She shouldn’t let him control her like this.

None of that was important. Her place was with him. Pushing all thoughts of the future and the present aside, Aurora zipped up the suitcase and forced herself to stop and scan the room. Firefly! She could see his orange snout poking out of the covers.

With Firefly pressed to her heart, Aurora pulled her suitcase to the door of the beautiful pink bedroom. She stopped to look around, feeling like her life was going to change irrevocably and she needed to remember this. Her gaze swiveled to the hallway when she felt his presence.

Drake took the suitcase from her and said softly, “Say goodbye to your grandparents.”

Nodding, Aurora slipped by him into the hallway. The casual brush of their bodies made her inhale sharply. How does he do this to me? Her footsteps dragged as she forced herself away from him and to the kitchen where she knew her grandparents waited.
