“My plan was to discuss this over breakfast, but we can start now if you’d like.” Drake paused to pat the berries gently before dropping them in the bowl.

“Mmhmmm. I’d like to know what’s going on now.”

“You need a job and have the skills I need. I have a position that needed a dedicated employee and you just started working for Drake, Inc.”

“What do you do?” she asked, bewildered as she pictured a dragon ravaging a rival firm.

“I take treasure and make it more valuable.”

“I don’t know what that means.”

“You will after the orientation class that starts in sixty minutes. You have time to eat, brush your teeth, and log into your new company computer,” Drake said as he walked forward with a bowl in each hand.

“I don’t want you to create a job for me,” she protested. Aurora hated feeling like he was just giving her a job. She was good enough to earn one. A good one.

“I looked at your grades and your courses. After contacting several of your professors for references, I knew I could trust you to contribute to my company.”

“You talked to my professors? And how did you get access to my grades? My parents can’t even see them unless I send a screen shot.”

“Dragon. I’ve learned some tricks over the years,” Drake said with a smile.

“I’d say.” She paused before asking, “Am I getting paid?”

Her eyes widened at the sound of her salary. “Per year? Not like for two or three years, right?”

“You need to fine tune your negotiation skills, Little one. That will be your annual salary. Next year, we’ll go over your review and see how it should be adjusted.”

Aurora stared at him. This was like a real, professional job. And she started today. She jumped out of her seat. “I need to change clothes and put some makeup on. I can’t look like a weekend camper on my first day.”

“You’ve already impressed the boss. Today’s training is online and can be off camera if you wish. If you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, you’re fine. And you’re not here for the weekend, but for longer. Much longer.”

She collapsed into her chair and took a bite from her bowl of yogurt. “You could have told me before now.”

“Then you would have worried.”

“I’m worrying now.”

“I know, Little one. Just relax and enjoy your breakfast. Let’s look at this office furniture catalogue. Your office needs a few things. A desk, chair, etc.”

“What’s in there now?”

“Not a thing. I just dug it out last night,” Drake told her.

“You just…” Aurora turned to look into the alcove and noticed huge claw marks gouged into the walls. If she hadn’t known Drake’s special feature, Aurora would never have guessed that’s what had happened.

“What kind of wood do you like? Walnut? Oak?”

“Cherry, please.”

“Good choice. The veins of copper in the walls will go well with that. Let’s look. What do you think of this desk?” he asked after flipping through the pages.

“I could take a nap on that. It looks enormous.”

“Hmm, good point. That might come in handy.”

“I’m not taking a nap on my desk, Daddy,” she protested.

“Okay, we’ll use that time and space for other activities.”

She stared at him as her brain whirled inside her skull. He wasn’t implying what she thought, was he? Her body responded immediately, and Aurora felt her panties becoming damp. She squeezed her thighs together, trying to ward off her arousal.

Drake lifted his head and sniffed. “You’ll need to tell me whatever thought you just had. I want to make that happen.”

“Daddy!” she said in exasperation. “Your sense of smell is invasive.”

“Yes,” he confirmed. “And handy.”

She stared at him for a minute and then deflected his attention to something other than her wetness. “Are all your senses enhanced?”

“That’s one of the memories that sticks with me. The day I first shifted into my dragon form was frightening, thrilling, and challenging. There were a lot of changes in my body building up to that moment, but when it all came together…”

“Mind blowing?” she guessed.

“Exactly. Feel like an excursion today?”

“Do you mean leave the mountain? Heck, yes! But don’t I need to work?”

“We’ll work during the day and go out to dinner this evening after we pick up your office supplies,” Drake told her.

“How do we get all that furniture up here?” she asked.

“Dragon power.”

“Of course. I’m finished with my breakfast. Can I go get ready?”

“Three more bites of your yogurt. Then I will come with you to help you get ready,” Drake informed her. “You still have thirty minutes before the orientation starts.”

Aurora rolled her eyes but took three more bites from her bowl and then one more because it was so good and there was one last strawberry. “This was good.”

“I’m glad. It’s important for you to tell me what you like and don’t like, Little one. Some things you will eat for health reasons, but if there is an option you like, I’ll serve you those.”
