"No." She copies my response.
I motion to the fridge.
"You want me to make my own drink?"
"You're not capable?"
"You're not going to say 'no, Sienna, you're eighteen, you can't drink.'"
"You can drink at eighteen in London."
"Damn. I guess that's one for London." She moves into the kitchen. Fills a glass with ice, a shot of gin, an entire bottle of Fever Tree.
"That's a waste of good gin."
"I like it this way."
"You could use cheap shit. You wouldn't know the difference."
"This is what's here."
That's fair.
"Besides, it's good. Try it. You'll like it." She offers her glass.
I set mine on the table. Take hers. It's not overly sweet, but it's more tonic water than gin. "Rubbish."
"It is not." She laughs. "You like it. I can tell."
"How can you tell?"
"Your eyes."
"What about them?"
"Besides their gorgeous dark hue?"
"If you can get past that."
She smiles as she takes her drink back. "I'm learning how to read them."
"You haven't seen me in two months."
"We talk."
"Via text."
"Even so." She takes a long sip. "I'm going to figure you out whether you like it or not."
Chapter Four
Cam
The second Sienna sees her sister, she skips to the table and throws her arms around her.
It's completely out of place at the upscale restaurant, but neither of them care.
Even Ty, master of propriety, greets Sienna with a warm hug. "Is Cam giving you trouble?"
"Oh, you mean how we fucked in your shower?" Sienna teases Ty. "No trouble at all."
He shakes his head sure you did as if he isn't bothered by the suggestion.
He is—Ty is protective of everyone in his life, especially Sienna—but he knows better than to show it. Sienna is like me. She fucks with Ty on purpose.
And my friend trusts me. He believes I won't touch her.
I won't. I just need to convince my cock to get on board with the plan.
"Really?" Sienna's sister Indigo plays along. "The shower is slippery. It's difficult. Worth it, but difficult."
"You have an anti-slip mat." Sienna shoots her sister a please look.
Indigo blushes busted.
Ty plays along with Sienna. "We have handles too. Did you miss those?"
This time, Sienna blushes. It's not quite busted. More dammit, I've lost this round. "Uh… well… they didn't work for the position." Her brow furrows. "Really? Handles… how do you…? Nevermind."
Indigo laughs as she turns to me. "It's nice to see you, Cam. You're wearing that suit."
"And your dress?" I sit across from her.
"Doesn't she look great? A total boss bride." Sienna motions to her sister's outfit—a long white dress with a very deep v-neck—and sits next to me. "I helped her pick it out."
"And so humble about her skill too." Indigo blows her sister a kiss.
Sienna catches it, holds it to her chest, blows her own back.
They laugh, easy in their close relationship. Easy with their teasing.
For a few minutes, they stay in that state. Indigo and Sienna tease each other about their relative styles. Indigo is always a "boss babe" whereas Sienna has no time for fancy clothes. She's an athlete who lives for comfort. She doesn't have time to stumble in heels, but she makes an effort for dinners with Ty. She doesn't want to look like a total layabout next to a guy who wears a designer suit everywhere.
They banter like it's routine—seriously, Ty, do you ever take that thing off—then Sienna shifts the conversation to the wedding.
She swoons over the venue, the dress, the honeymoon in the Bahamas. I want pictures. Lots of pictures. PG ones!
She doesn't seem upset about the wedding. But maybe she's good at pretending.
I play my part as groomsman. I tease Ty about saving his strength for the wedding night, packing enough toys for the honeymoon, finding a hotel with particularly thick walls.
When the server drops off a bottle of Pinot, and fills all four of our glasses, I propose a toast. "To Ty. Making men everywhere proud, thinking with his cock."
Indigo blushes as she holds up her glass. "I, uh… Cheers."
Ty shoots me a fuck off look, but he's beaming with pride. "You're an arsehole."
"It is what matters, Ty," Sienna says. "That's why I told Indie to marry you."
"Because I think with my cock?" he asks.
"No. I don't think you do. I mean, look at her." Sienna motions to her sister. "She's perfect in every way. Not just the carnal ways."
Indigo taps her glass with Sienna's.
Sienna smiles and turns to Ty. "You… you're not as much with the personality."
"Brutal," I say.
She continues. "But you're rich, hot, and good in bed. That's the total package."
"She likes him. She's just doesn't like to admit it," Indigo says.
Sienna motions so-so.
Ty smiles, not bothered by her teasing. "And that's only because I can talk football."
"Absolutely." She taps glasses with him.
He sips his wine and shakes his head ah, my silly sister-in-law. So odd and so in need of my protection.
"It's an interesting philosophy on love," Indigo says.
