“I hope you didn’t wish for any life-altering events this year.” Madison handed me a cutting knife. “I’m assuming you’ve learned your lesson.”
“I wished for you to finally get a boyfriend,” I said. “I was being quite selfless.”
“Is that quite so?” She mocked me, looking at Tyler. “Do you ever notice how terrible her pseudo-British accent is, or are you just used to it?”
“I’m used to it.” He laughed and kissed my cheek. “‘I’ll be right back.”
He stepped into the kitchen, and Kristin and Madison waited for the doors to shut, serving me a particular side of glares that only they could.
“What?” I asked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Does he know?” Kristin crossed her arms. “Because he’s looked blissfully unaware all day.”
“He definitely doesn’t know,” Madison answered for me. “This is Chloe we’re talking about.”
“I made a selfless birthday wish for you too, Kristin,” I said. “Want to hear it?”
“‘I’d rather hear you tell Tyler he has another baby on the way.”
“I’m telling him when we get home tonight,” I said. “Part of my birthday redo is going out together. We’re getting on the Great Wheel, and then I’m telling him once we get in the photobooth.”
“Any reason why it has to be so elaborate?”
“Yeah,” I said, looking outside as he rocked the babies in his arms. “He kept our reel last time, and I want this one. I want a picture of him once I reveal we’re having another set of twins…”
The End, Again
