Teetering on the edge of his climax, Desmond waited until hers slowed before moving faster, their slick bodies sliding together in unison, when he stiffened over her, driven over the edge in a bliss-filled oblivion that had him biting down on her nipple in ecstasy.
“Desmond … I’m going to need that back.”
Releasing her nipple, he moved to give her breathing room.
“I’m going be wanting that back in about … five minutes.”
Contentment had him lifting her over him, to smooth back the tousled hair concealing her expression.
Her eyes were clear and without regret. Desmond wished his conscience were the same. He had misled Haley from the moment he had met her years ago and had continued to do so since then.
“Whatever you’re thinking about, stop right now.”
Using a thumb, he traced her swollen bottom lip. “There is something I need to tell you.”
She placed her fingertips over his lips. “Tell me in the morning.”
Sultrily, she started sliding her fingertips down his body, trailing them off his mouth as she did. Desmond arched his back as the whisper-soft touch explored every crevice and cavity until his mind went blank when her mouth covered the head of his cock.
He gripped the sheets in clenched fists, and his skull nearly imploded as she removed his cock to suck his tightening balls into a mouth that was driving him to the point of oblivion before he had been able to recover from the first climax.
“Desmond?”
The erotic sound of her voice had his cock jumping, as if it was at her command.
“Huh …?” He was barely able to croak out.
“How do you spell your name?”

Carrying her suitcase down the front stairs, Haley saw the clerk behind the desk look at her strangely. Haley couldn’t blame him. It was five in morning.
“Is there something I can do for you, Ms. Clark?”
“No, thank you.”
Aware that the clerk was keeping her within eyesight, Haley didn’t let it bother her. A sound at the top of the stairs had her raising her eyes to see Rhone hurrying down.
“Is there something wrong?” he asked once he was almost abreast of her, taking in the suitcase by her side.
“I want to leave.”
“Right now?” He narrowed his eyes on her. “Did you and Desmond have a fight? I can give you another room—”
“We didn’t fight. I just want to leave. Please.” Haley bit her lip to keep it from trembling. “Please help me, Rhone. I’ll work for free for six months if you can get me out of here before Desmond wakes up.”
Rhone’s expression went stoic. “I’m your friend, Haley. If you want to leave that badly, you don’t owe me a fucking thing. Let’s go.”
Picking up her suitcase, he ushered her out of the hotel.
“My truck is over to the side of the hotel. Do you want to wait here or—”
She started shaking her head before he could finish his question. “I’ll walk with you.”
“Okay.”
Haley put one foot in front of the other instead of glancing toward the hotel as they walked to where Rhone’s truck was sitting beside the vehicle they had borrowed the day before.
Starting the truck, he cast her a glance before driving away. “Desmond won’t be happy you left him without telling him.”
“He’s not going to be happy you helped me,” she warned.
“I’m not worried about making him mad,” Rhone answered.
“That makes two of us.”

Pulling up to the metal call box, Haley lowered the window of her car.
“Go away, Haley. You are not welcome here.”
“Open the gate, Amelia. I want to talk to George.”
“Dad refuses to speak to you.”
“Then I suggest you tell him to open the gate, or I’ll contact my lawyer and we can have a nice sit-down with witnesses.”
The electronic gate slid open.
Parking the rental car in the driveway, Haley got out of the car and walked to the intricately carved door to ring the bell.
Amelia flung the door open as she approached. “Dad doesn’t want to hear an apology. You can leave.” Amelia haughtily blocked her from entering the house.
“Move, Amelia. I didn’t come here to apologize. George and I are going to talk. Personally, I’d rather have this conversation in my law firm’s office, but out of respect for Julia, I’m giving George the opportunity to talk to me here versus having witnesses present.”
“Let her in, Amelia.”
Her cousin moved to the side.
Walking inside, Haley saw George coming down the stairs.
“I’m late for an appointment, Haley. I will give you two minutes of my time. After that, you will be escorted from the premises. We can talk in the living room.”
“I prefer we have this conversation where your staff can’t overhear.”
“Very well.” George gave Amelia a shake of his head when she would have protested.
Haley let George and Amelia lead the way through the highly ornate house that Amelia had redecorated after her mother’s death. The cold, sophisticated style had replaced the casual warmth and welcoming interior that Julia had been so proud of.
