Then Reuben lifted her again and carried her back out to the seats. They were super comfortable. Like a proper armchair but with seatbelts. He buckled her in before sitting next to her. Reaching over, she took his hand as a man wearing a waistcoat, a white shirt and black pants approached. He looked to be a couple of years younger than Faith.

He smiled at them both. “Hello, Ms. Blossom. I’m Alfie. We’re about to head down the runway. Here is your coffee and chocolate milk. If you need anything, just hit the buzzer, otherwise I’ll stay out of your way.”

“Thanks, Alfie,” Reuben said.

Wow. He’d actually said thank you.

“Sometimes I have manners, brat,” he murmured in her ear. “Now, after takeoff, we can sit on the sofa and I’ll give you your bottle.”

She had to wait that long?

Although maybe that was strategic. If she started to feel ill, he probably didn’t want chocolate milk all over him.

As they started to move, she grabbed his hand and held on tight.

“That’s it, baby. Turn toward me. Good girl. Press your face into my shirt. Everything will be okay. Hold onto me and Colin. Suck on your pacifier.”

Faith whimpered but held on extra tight as the plane took off into the air.

Reuben spoke to her, praising her, telling her how brave she was. But she didn’t feel very brave. She felt like a complete wimp.

Her breath came in sharp pants. She couldn’t seem to breathe properly.

Reuben reached over and drew out her pacifier, then tilted her face up. “Look just at me. You can breathe. Squeeze my hand. That’s good. Now, touch my nose.”

With the hand she’d been using to hold Colin, she touched his nose.

“Now, touch my chin.”

She pressed her shaking fingers to his chin.

“Now, my lips.”

Her fingers went to lips and he parted them to nip at her fingers. A surprised giggle left her, and she realized that she was already breathing easier. Faith didn’t know how he did it, but he always seemed to know how to make her feel more at ease.

“Such a brave, obedient girl. Now, touch my dick.”

“Daddy!” she protested.

He grinned wickedly. “Worth a shot.”

As the plane evened out, Reuben undid both of their seatbelts.

“Are you sure this is all right, Daddy?” she asked worriedly.

“Daddy has everything under control. You trust me, remember?”

Right.

He stood, and she raised her arms. She didn’t feel like walking right now. And she knew Reuben would carry her everywhere if she let him.

“Up-up.”

“Of course, Little Blossom.” He took her pacifier and popped it back into her mouth. Then he lifted her onto his hip and grabbed her bottle of chocolate milk.

He carried her to the sofa and sat with her on his lap. She’d managed to keep hold of Colin, and she hugged him tight.

To her surprise, Reuben started undoing his shirt.

Faith gave him a questioning look.

“I thought you might like some skin while you drink your bottle.”

A happy sigh escaped, and she nestled into him as his skin was revealed. Then he took out her pacifier and replaced it with the nipple of the bottle before brushing his fingers over her cheek.

“Drink your bottle for Daddy. And then you can have a nap. We’ll be there before you know it. Daddy has you. Daddy always has you.”

The closer they got to her hometown, the more tense Faith grew. She was dressed in her adult clothes again, which was a shame in his opinion. But she hadn’t wanted to turn up to her family farm wearing a butterfly onesie.

Reaching up, she touched the new hair clip he’d bought her. She’d said she didn’t need a good luck charm anymore, but he wanted her to have one anyway.

The possessive caveman in him liked that she had one that he’d given her. He liked providing for her. Giving her whatever she needed.

So he didn’t like that she was stressed about this. Not one bit.

Reuben tightened his hands on the steering wheel. He’d make sure that no one upset her. Or they’d answer to him. Family or not.

“This is an awfully nice rental car.”

He grinned. It was. It was the best he could buy. He had an impression to make.

“You doing all right, baby?” he asked. “We don’t have to go.”

“No, they’re expecting us. And I need to do this. I’m just nervous.”

As they passed the welcome to Public, Missouri sign, he had to grin. Someone had blacked out the L in public, so it read, Welcome to Pubic, Missouri.

He drove through the quaint town. It had a wide main street and cute shops on either side. Everything was well-maintained, which made him think that the graffiti on the town sign was new.

“We should check into the motel,” Faith said.

He glanced over to find she had her fingers tightly interlaced.

“We’ll go there after, baby. You need to get this out of the way.”
