“No.”

“No? What does that mean, no?” she asked, throwing her hands in the air.

“Autumn,” Brody said worriedly.

He turned his gaze to Brody. Shoot. She’d lost him.

“You have your orders. Look after her.”

“And what about anyone else who comes over? Can they spank me too?” she asked.

“Urgh, Autumn,” Brody said.

“Is it a spank-Autumn-a-thon? If so, someone could have told me. I’d have started working on a pair of wooden panties to protect my ass.”

The Fox moved so quickly that it took her by surprise. Grabbing her, he spun her in the air then pressed her to the wall behind her, caging her in.

Holy. Shit.

This is the Fox. He won’t hurt you. He’s your Daddy.

He won’t hurt you.

Strangely, even though the panic was there it wasn’t as strong as she’d thought it would be.

“Fox! Be careful! You’ll scare her!”

She wasn’t fragile. She wasn’t. She could be strong. And she’d brought this on. She’d pushed and prodded him, wanting him to explode.

Just . . . maybe she should start thinking about consequences.

Idiot.

When she glanced up, the Fox was glaring down at her. “No one will touch you but us. Do you understand me?”

“Yes, I know. I understand.”

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. Brody appeared next to her, touching the Fox’s shoulder.

The Fox turned to look at him, then back at her. Suddenly, his hands moved from the wall and he stepped back. “Did I scare you? Hurt you?”

“No. No, of course you didn’t.”

He eyed her suspiciously. “I pinned you to the wall.”

“You didn’t touch me. And you would’ve moved if I asked you to.” She didn’t know that for sure, but she decided to act like she was certain. Confidence was everything, right?

“I would have. I don’t ever want to scare you. And if I ever hurt you . . . the two of you run and you hide. I’ll get you go-bags. With money, ID, and whatever you’ll need. But you run from me. Because that means I’m too far gone.”

“What do you mean, ‘too far gone’?” Brody asked.

“It means I’m stuck in the past. In a dark place. And you won’t be able to pull me out, no matter how you try to manipulate me.” He shot her a look.

Oh. Whoops. Figured that out, had he?

She gave him a big smile. “Why, Daddy, I don’t know what you mean.”

“I mean that you’re topping from the bottom, brat.” He shot a look at Brody, who nodded back.

She narrowed her gaze at them both. “You’re ganging up on me. You shouldn’t do that, it’s not nice.”

The Fox cupped her face between his hands. Then to her shock, he slid onto his knees in front of her and wrapped his arms around her hips, pressing his face into her stomach.

What was going on?

She stared over at Brody, but he just looked as shocked as she did.

“Foxy?” she whispered.

Nothing. He just held her tighter. She ran her fingers through his thick dark hair. She had no idea how he was able to disguise himself so easily. There was no one like him. He was smart, talented, and protective.

Maybe they needed to tell him more often how amazing he was. But he always seemed so full of confidence. She’d never have imagined he would be on his knees, shaking as he held onto her like this.

“It’s okay,” she whispered.

Brody slid in behind him, slowly leaning into him and wrapping his arms around his middle. She didn’t know how long they stood there like that, with the Fox between them, the two of them doing their best to hold onto him tight. To keep him steady. She kept moving her fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp.

This was a breakthrough of sorts. And if he needed her to, she’d stand here all night and hold him.

These men were her everything. It was possible that she’d loved them almost from the moment she’d met them, as weird as that was. She wouldn’t tell their kids how they met, though.

She sucked in a hard breath.

“Tutu?” Brody asked her with concern.

“Just imagining our children. That’s going to be strange, huh? We won’t have to call them animal names, will we?”

Brody blinked at her in shock.

Whoops. She should have kept that thought to herself. Always with the inappropriate jokes.

“Although when you think about it, there are some cute animal names.” And she just wouldn’t learn when to shut up. “What about Raven?”

Brody’s eyebrows rose. To her surprise, she felt the Fox growing more relaxed against her. She hoped he couldn’t hear her stomach making any noises.

Embarrassing.

“Cat? Oh, I know, Buck!”

Brody just shook his head, but he was grinning, so that was something.

“Drake? Wren? Robin? Hmm, all very birdlike, though, right? Oh no, I have it. I totally have it. Woody. If we have a son, we’re calling him Woody.”
