His grunts grew louder and his thrusts were deeper and harder.
“Fuck me, Alex. Just. Like. That.” The words flew from my mouth in breathless grunts.
Alex nibbled my ear and then moved to the curve of my neck where he sank his teeth into my flesh and pounded harder into me.
“Yes, Alex!” My words had an effect on him, pushed him deeper. His thrusts were more intense and I took every inch of him, pulsing and squeezing all around him. “I’m going to come again.”
He hitched my legs up over his hips and pounded so hard the sounds of our hips smacking together echoed in the air, punctuating the intensity of our coming together. His grunts came faster and then he took my mouth in a fiery kiss that prolonged my orgasm until another exploded out of me.
“Alex!” He swallowed the shout and kissed me so deeply that I felt my heart hand itself over to him. It was dangerous, I knew that, but I didn’t care, not when I felt so good. Not when he made me feel so good. So wanted.
So loved.
It wasn’t real and it couldn’t last, but I let myself bask in the moment, in the afterglow while Alex filled me with his pleasure before he collapsed on top of me. I held him close while his breathing returned to normal. When it was all over, I turned away and listened for the sound of his quiet exit.
Only it never came, he wrapped his arms around me and held me close as I drifted off to sleep. I guess this means that my earlier worries about Alex wanting to halt the intimate aspect of our fake relationship was unfounded.
Chapter 27
Alex
“Gotta get home to the old ball and chain?” Greg was the other starting winger on the Highlanders and my closest friend on the team. He loved to give me shit any day of the week, more so now that I was engaged and would very soon be married. “And so it begins.”
I looked around the table at my other teammates. These were the men who’d made up my social circle for years, they were young, and most of all, they were single. Soon I wouldn’t be either of those things. I laughed off Greg’s words and shrugged.
“If you had a woman at home as beautiful as mine, you wouldn’t want to spend time with these ugly schmucks either.”
“She’s smokin’ hot,” one of the rookies added a little on the loud side. “All those curves too? Witter’s a very lucky man.”
I narrowed my gaze at the rookie. “Thanks. But watch it.”
“Whoa,” Greg joked and held up both of his hands defensively. “The papers and the photos are right, you’re totally in love with this chick.”
“Duh, we’re getting married.”
Greg nodded. “When do we get to meet her?”
“At the wedding. I don’t want you all scaring her off before it’s official.”
The truth was my own behavior, or rather my cowardice, was the thing that might have scared her off. I’d come back from practice with the intention of laying all my cards on the table and telling her how I felt, but I was interrupted by Jack. Okay, I let Jack interrupt us. It turns out that the suits at St. Bay Lager were ready to sign a very lucrative endorsement deal and I’d rushed off to sign it. It was business, I told myself because that was easier than the prospect of telling Sasha my feelings and having her reject me.
Later that night, I thought I would try and talk to her again. I took the buttercream to her room as a joke, I way to ease my way into the conversation I awkwardly ran from before. But, as usual with Sasha, one thing let to another, and before I knew it, we were fucking. And hell if I was going to stop that to talk.
“More puck bunnies for me,” Greg interrupted my thoughts with a satisfied smile. “Send the missus my love.”
“Yeah, I won’t be doing that. See you in the morning,” I said to the table at large before I turned to leave the bar. I wasn’t in the mood to drink and yuck it up with the team, but I hadn’t been out with them all season and that kind of bonding was important. I couldn’t let it slide even though I missed Dixie and Sasha, and I couldn’t wait to get home to see them.
The penthouse was quiet and mostly dark except for one light that Sasha kept on, joking that we couldn’t risk me hurting my money makers in a freak accident with a coffee table. My shoulders slumped in disappointment when I realized it was late, too late to spend any time with Dixie. That didn’t stop me from peeking in for a quick look at her sweet sleeping form. Her red hair, growing thicker by the day, stood up all around her head like a halo.
