With that in mind, I redoubled my efforts, sucking and licking until Joe was trembling.

“How am I close already?” he panted.

“Because I’m that good.” I hummed happily around his balls.

“You are. Get close. Want to feel you moan.”

In response, I sped up my hand on my cock. Approaching climax while my mouth was full and oxygen strictly rationed was a new sensation, one I liked a lot. I felt bold and sexy and strangely powerful, like serving Joe in this new way made me some kind of sex god.

The more he used and took, the higher I flew, and each time I groaned or gasped around his balls, he made an answering noise. I stopped worrying about getting him off first and simply gave myself over to the sensual concert.

“Fuck. Fuck. Coming.” Joe arched his big body, heels digging into the mattress, thighs tensing around me.

“Me too.” Fuck. He was so sexy like that, face scrunched up like he was in pain, fist moving fast and hard. It only took me another stroke or two on my own cock before I was right there, poised on the edge of the high dive. “Can I—”

As always, Joe knew exactly what I needed. “Yes. That’s it, baby. Come for Daddy.”

And I did, over and over, body bowing upward as I shot all over my stomach, my climax all the more powerful because I’d been able to do that for Joe, give him that same pleasure. As I drifted back to earth, I’d never felt sexier or closer to another person. Wiping my mouth off, I scrambled back up his torso to sprawl against his chest.

“So good, baby. So good.” He pet my hair. “Incredible, but damn, we got spunk everywhere.”

“I planned ahead.” I grabbed the towel I’d stashed by the other pillow. We did tend to make a mess together. A beautiful mess. I shivered with a sudden onslaught of emotion as I cleaned us both up.

“Good boy.” Eyes drifting shut, Joe yawned. “Thank you.”

“Anytime.” I pulled the covers up and around him, trying to show him the same care he always did for me, tucking him in and flipping off the light.

My heart had never felt so full and fragile, and as I lay there in the dark, all I could do was snuggle in against him and hope the summer never ended.

Chapter Twenty-One

Joe

I loved watching Levi. Especially those few minutes when he was unaware of my presence, and I could simply bask in the afternoon summer sun and the glow that was Levi’s smile.

“Look at you, Dimples. You haven’t messed up once today,” Blake teased while Levi blushed and reapplied his efforts to wiping down the counter.

“I try.” Levi set aside the rag to ring up a college-aged woman with double nose rings who wanted a cookie and tea.

Every time I made it into Bold Brew lately, Levi was proving himself more competent and indispensable to the coffeeshop. He’d finally memorized the menu, had a rhythm that worked for him, and managed to joke with his coworkers while racking up tips with those dimples and humble attitude.

I was hanging back, waiting for the end of his shift. The place was more crowded than usual, which probably had something to do with the annual world-music festival over in the park. That was where Levi and I would be headed, as my dad had talked me into volunteering to help set up the senior-center booth for the “information alley” featuring various community organizations.

And Levi, being Levi, had offered to come along despite having had to work this morning. His work at the coffeehouse wasn’t the only thing that had settled into a natural rhythm. So had we. Somehow the past few weeks were a blur of shared meals and hot sex and long, late-night talks followed by more hot sex. I’d said that we should slow down and enjoy the summer, but summer had other ideas and kept rushing by.

“Joe!” A wide grin bloomed across Levi’s face as he finally spotted me. “I’ll be done as soon as Vann clocks in.”

“Yes, can’t keep Daddy Bear waiting.” Blake flicked his bar towel at Levi who simply rolled his eyes at him.

“You’re jealous my weekend plans are more exciting than yours,” he shot back. I restrained myself from cheering, but seriously, seeing him bantering more easily and standing up for himself made me proud and happy. And seeing him belonging here made it easier to convince myself that he belonged here, in Laurelsburg, at Bold Brew, in my life.

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Giving a flirty wink, Blake stepped aside as Vann entered the coffee bar area from the back. “Now, get out of here.”

“Did you want a coffee?” Hanging up his apron, Levi came around the bar where he turned all that sunshine my direction.
