“You never have to be worried for us.” He quickly flips me until I’m lying below him. Melvon pulls his hard cock free and pushes my legs open, his finger finding my entrance. “I live for you now.” He kisses the top of my pussy before he licks between the folds. His tongue slides up and down, circling my wetness before he stops, and I feel his fangs enter my upper thigh. At the same time, he slides two fingers inside and begins to pleasure me endlessly.

I reach for him, and he stops tasting me, knowing I need more of him. Licking over the wound, he crawls up my body, and his cock slips between my legs, teasing me.

“You’ll never leave me?” I ask him as he slides inside, our matching moans filling the space around us.

His mouth finds mine. “Never.”

Chapter Twenty-One

TALIA

They say to take a life is a sin.

I have come to realize I am turning more and more into a sinner.

I stand there, a cold smile on my lips, watching as a vampire walks out of its flashy home. The type of home they never deserved but always had. They always thought they were better than us witches.

Why? I’m not really sure.

They aren’t more powerful.

They may have strength on their side, sure.

But definitely not power.

No, that sits with us.

It sits with me.

“Should we?” Cinitta nods to the vampire. She isn’t her usual fairy self—she is back to what she was when I first met her. Fire engulfs her scale-covered body, making her stronger this way.

I often wondered how vampires became the more dominant species, but then I remember the Angels… and Veronica. That all seems like so long ago now.

“Talia.” I turn to Bronik. “What are you doing?” he asks.

“Fancy seeing you here. It’s been a long time.”

“Talia, why are you here?”

I reach for my power. When I feel it, I smile as I fling it at him, sticking him to where he stands. His mouth opens wide in shock, but words don’t leave it. The vampire that was on his way to probably kill us pauses when he sees the Angel. He takes one look at me and is gone, back into his fancy house.

“See what you did? You scared my fun away.” I pout at Bronik, shaking my head. “That’s not really nice of you now, is it?” I wave my hand and unfreeze him.

He stumbles, but quickly rights himself. “How did you do that?” he asks, looking around. “And why are you covered in blackness?” I glance down at myself.

“What blackness?”

“It pours from you. It’s eating away at you.” He steps forward, and I look to the ground and halt him from coming any closer to me.

“You can stay and watch the show if you’d like,” I offer. "Did you know all my life we were slaves to them?” I point to the house. “I hated them. How could we let them dominate us when I knew I was stronger than them?”

“You are indeed stronger,” Bronik agrees.

“I know. But not strong enough to not get trapped… not once but twice,” I say, shaking my head. “Did you know my father before he was the King of Hell?” I ask Bronik. He only nods. “What about Grim? Did he know him?”

“Yes, the Angel of Death and the King of Hell are old friends, Talia.”

Yeah, I gathered as much.

“I’ve been contemplating how I will kill all the vampires. Sitting in that house, they are probably forming a plan.” I glance back to Cinitta. “Fire, maybe?” I ask Bronik. “That kills a vampire, right?”

“It does,” he confirms.

“What about loss of power?” I smile. “Do you think that from here, I could take their power?”

“No, you have to be touching them.”

“They are connected, though, right? What if I got the one who made them all and took his power? Would that then destroy them?”

Bronik is quiet for a long time before he decides it’s probably best not to answer me.

“That’s okay, fire it is.” I reach back and offer Cinitta my hand. Through her fire, she grips mine, and I take some of her power. She falters just a bit as I feel it leaving her body and coming to me. I suck it until a large fireball is formed in front of me. It’s so large it lights up the whole area, and you would think it’s daytime.

I lock eyes with Bronik. “They said to rule, I had to be cruel. I didn’t believe them. But I do now.” I let the fireball go at the same time I release Cinitta’s arm. The burning orb flies through house after house, incinerating them. When it finally hits the last house, it evaporates, and I grin in the light of the inferno in front of us.

All these beautiful houses that once were admired from afar are now being burned to the ground.
