“Oh fuck yeah!” They were exactly on the same page. Cash’s fingers at his hole were the only thing that could have made him move so quickly.

He pushed off the back of the sofa. His unsteady legs resisted his effort to stand between Cash’s parted thighs. Dev glanced around the room, then smirked. As suspected, no one had stuck around to watch him fuck Cash. Better for him.

The visual of Cash on that couch below him might be the best pornography he’d ever seen. Damn, he wished he could capture this shot of Cash to draw later. Those tight fucking jeans spread open wide. The waistband of his underwear had been caught beneath his balls, shoving his sac forward. That thick cock stood hard and erect, so full it leaked for him. The cock of his dreams. He moved his inspection higher to the shirt he’d methodically opened one button at a time throughout the night. The splayed sides now showcased that muscular chest, rising and falling under Dev’s perusal. The hard tight buds of his nipples protruded toward Dev, begging for his touch. Cash’s lips parted, his gaze searching. Desire and untamed lust surged off the man.

They needed to be alone for this. No peeping eyes to witness Dev’s utter annihilation to everything he once held dear. Once he allowed himself to be with Cash again, to soar to the heights he only experienced with this man, he’d never be the same again.

Their relationship shifted again. The invisible bindings tightened around him. Dev was shit to do anything more than let it happen. Fuck the consequences. He reached out and Cash met him halfway as he got to his feet. They were steps away from the meeting room. Church. Whether that was Cash’s ultimate goal or not didn’t matter. It was all the distance Dev was willing to cover before he offered his heart and his soul.

Three steps. Dev grabbed the always available pump bottle of lube from the clubhouse counter and gave it to Cash. He took the three strides to a place he knew was off limits, inviting Cash into the club’s inner sanctum. Knowing the consequences of his actions if they were caught made the moment all that much sweeter. Dev had to pull his pants up to dig the key from his pocket. He couldn’t get the key in the lock quick enough. The door opened and he strode into the private room willingly with Cash’s hand firmly in his. Fuck the rules.

“There’re no recordin’ devices in here,” he explained, unwilling to take the chance of getting Cash removed from the case again. At least that was what he told himself. Honestly, he didn’t like the idea of anyone peeping and leering at the beauty following behind him. “I guarantee you’re safe in here. No one in this club wants what’s discussed in here put on record.”

The door shut. Dev twisted the lock. Cash’s strong arm swept around his waist, drawing him against the wall. He shoved the bottle of lube haphazardly on the shelf beside them. In quick, efficient movements, Dev’s jeans were pushed down his hips again. Cash’s finger prodded against his hole as their bodies met groin to groin. Cash was so close the warmth of his breath danced along his jaw.

Pretty boy’s chest rose and fell in heavy breaths, bated with anticipation. Spellbound, he let himself tumble deeper into those beautiful eyes that spoke of honesty and truth and all the things he shouldn’t trust.

“I’m into you. So into you,” Cash whispered and shook his head, his brows furrowing slightly as if he were frustrated with himself.

Dev gripped Cash’s hips, smoothing his palms up Cash’s sides. He traced the long deep scar with his fingertips.

“No, it’s more than that. It’s been more than that for more years than I can say.” Cash’s palm landed flat and heavy on Dev’s chest, over his heart. “I know who you are. I’ve always known who you are. You’re my hero. My life’s love. It all came together for me the first day I moved into your building, the minute you pulled your bike onto the front porch with such a show of dominance. Everything my imagination conjured of you snapped into place as reality. You’re my real-life hero. I love you. I loved you back then for trying to protect me, and I love you now for the same reasons, and many, many more.”

Time stood still. Emotions flooded Dev’s entire body on hearing those words. Love, acceptance, hope, doubt, fear, shame slammed through him like a tsunami.

Cash didn’t make sense.

He’d had to battle his way through life, kicking at the edges of a world he never fully understood. Hate and destruction followed his every move.

His life didn’t consist of happily ever afters.

“Nobody loves me,” Dev whispered, the sound filled with the hoarse, harsh chords of disbelief. As much as he may have wanted someone—this man—to want to be with him, to love him, the years of emotional abuse at the hands of almost every person he knew had the defensive walls building around his heart.
