“Cazzo,” I grunt as I stand up. “No.” I shake my head, my broken heart rattling in my chest as it tries to beat some life into my veins. “She didn’t.” A heart-wrenching sound leaves my lips before I roar and flip my desk over.

“FUCK!” I shout, my body shaking violently.

My door slams open, and Franco comes rushing in with his gun drawn. Wildly he glances around the office before he looks at me. “What the fuck, De Santis?”

I press a hand to my heart and stumble a step backward. My eyes land on the voice recorder, and the sounds of Tiana fucking another man echo through my very being.

I’m going to kill them.

“Armani?” Franco asks as he comes closer. “Are you okay? Did something happen to Tiana or your mother?”

I crouch down and pick up the device, and meeting my boss’ eyes, my voice is devoid of emotion as I say, “I need a day off work to kill the fucker who’s been fucking my wife.”

Franco’s eyes widen, then understanding washes over his face. “I’ll cover for you. Let me know if there’s any way I can help.”

With a curt nod, I stalk out of the office, and in a haze of rage, I get into my car and drive home.

Home.

What fucking home?

I loved her, and she betrayed me.

I gave her everything, and she fucking played me for a fool.

Was it all an act? Her shyness? Her loving me?

My body shudders, and I grip the steering wheel tighter. I see nothing around me. I don’t hear the other cars on the road.

There’s only the rage.

Somehow I make it to the car park without causing an accident. Getting out, I open the trunk and grab my bag of weapons. I sling the strap over my shoulder and walk to where I get on a tram.

People give me a wide berth and wait for me to get off before they dare approach the door. There’s no way to contain the rage emanating from me like a force field.

She fucked another man.

She begged another man.

She said the exact words to him that she’s said to me while I was fucking her.

Turning up my street, I pull my gun out from where it’s tucked into the waistband of my pants, and my fingers flex around the handle.

She said she’s his.

My fucking wife, the woman I loved more than anything, betrayed me in the worst way possible.

She made a fool of me.

ME!

Armani De Santis.

The Reaper.

I’m going to fucking kill them both.

I slam the door open and take the steps up to the front door two at a time.

I loved her. She was mine.

The aroma of our dinner hangs in the air to welcome me home, but now it makes my stomach turn.

I drop the bag of weapons in the foyer.

“Armani? You’re home early,” I hear her say, her voice filled with happiness.

She comes out of the kitchen with a smile on her face, and I lift my arm, training the barrel of my gun on her.

Shock ripples over her face, and her eyes widen.

My voice is a blend of ice and the vast emptiness she’s caused to form in my chest. “You fucking betrayed me.”

Her face pales, and she shakes her head as she backtracks into the kitchen. “No, Armani! I didn’t do anything.”

Pulling the voice recorder from my pocket, I press play. When she hears the damming evidence, her hands fly up to cover her mouth as she continues to shake her head.

Once again, raw agony rips through me with a brutal force. The pieces of my heart are pulverized to dust as I look at the woman I love.

“You betrayed me,” I whisper, my pain too much to bear.

My arm holding the gun falls to my side, and I struggle to remain on my feet. I try to inhale air into my lungs, but it feels like the walls are closing in on me as my entire world is ripped from beneath my feet.

I crouch down and breathe through the destruction.

“I didn’t do that,” Tiana sobs. “I don’t know how they got the recording, but I’ve never been with anyone but you.”

“Shut up,” I hiss.

“Please, Armani. You have to believe me,” she begs, and for the first time since I’ve met her, I hear her crying loudly. “I’ve been faithful to you.”

If it weren’t for the evidence, I might’ve believed her.

I move into a kneeling position and lift my eyes to her, the gun pressed against my thigh.

“I gave you everything.” I shake my head. It’s impossible to hide the pain she’s caused me from her eyes. “I would’ve given you the world.”

Tiana leans heavily against the doorjamb and slowly sinks to the floor. She wraps her arm around her middle, her eyes pleading with me. “I-it wasn’t m-m-me.”

I press play again, letting the sounds of her fucking another man fill the air between us with violence and destruction.
