“He’s Jet’s brother, too,” Teddy added with a flip of his hand.

So, that was the connection between the female bounty hunter and Teddy. Jet was Teddy’s sister-in-law.

The police department and the MC must have a good relationship with each other.

Adam tipped his head down at the baby in his arms. “This is our little stinker, Mira. Sorry, Fallon, but I need to leave her here because I have to go work second shift. I hope you don’t mind babies.”

“I don’t—”

Teddy slapped a hand against his chest. “I wanted to name our precious bundle of joy Miracle since that’s what she is to us. But this one,” he rolled his green eyes and tipped his head toward Adam, “who is much more boring than moi, decided it was way too extra. We ended up compromising with Mira.”

“Well, the name is beautiful just like her.”

“Do you have any?” Adam asked.

“No,” Fallon answered with a little shake of her head.

“Do you want any?” Teddy asked with a sly smile. “Mmm. My ovaries explode just thinking about having that boy’s babies. I’m sure yours do, too.”

“Theodore!” Adam barked.

Teddy pressed his fingers to his mouth. “Oops. Did I say that out loud? Silly me.”

Adam sighed. “Good thing I love you.”

“Good thing.” Teddy winked. “And you know the only baby batter I—”

“Okay!” Adam said sharply, cutting Teddy off. “Well, I need to get to work.” Adam handed the baby over to Teddy and set the diaper bag that was over one shoulder onto the empty salon chair at the next station over. “I’ll grab the bouncer and put it next to you so you can keep an eye on her while you work.”

Teddy pressed a kiss to the awake but quiet baby’s forehead. “You do that, Daddy.” The baby gurgled and turned big eyes up to Teddy.

Adam headed to the other side of the salon where some baby stuff sat in the corner. Fallon had been so busy with Teddy’s chatter she hadn’t even noticed it until now.

“She just ate and probably will need changed soon,” Adam warned when he returned.

“Thanks for the warning, Daddy.”

“I know how much you enjoy changing her diaper,” Adam said dryly.

Teddy shrugged. “Meh. Comes with the territory.”

Adam smiled. “That it does.” He leaned in, they shared a longer kiss this time, then the cop planted a noisy one on Mira’s cheek, making the baby’s little arms and legs jerk in response. “Try not to make your daddy cry again, baby girl.”

Teddy gasped. “Of course I cry when she cries. How can I not?”

Adam cocked a brow at him. “Do you really want me to answer that?”

Teddy clicked his tongue. “Sorry if not everyone is as stoic as you, lover.”

“It has nothing to do with being stoic. Okay, gotta go. Nice meeting you, Fallon. And I’m going to apologize in advance if they both start crying in stereo.”

Fallon laughed. “Are you saying I need tissues and earplugs to get my hair done?”

“It wouldn’t hurt to be prepared,” Adam said with all seriousness. “Okay, see you tonight, T-bear.”

“Hold up, hun bun.” Teddy grabbed his arm to stop him. “We’re both dying to know why the feds are allowing the Shirleys to move up on that mountain again.”

Adam stared at him for the longest time before his gaze sliced to Fallon and back to him. Fallon could see the guarded look in his crystal blue eyes. “Who says they are?”

“So, they are keeping an eye on that crazy clan?”

“Teddy,” he warned. “You know I can’t talk about what’s going on with the Guardians of Freedom.”

Guardians of Freedom. That kind of sounded like some militia-type group. The kind who believed taxation was theft and the government was the enemy. It made sense then, if they were stockpiling weapons and making meth among other things, that federal agents had gotten involved.

She would have to search online when she got back to her room later to learn more about them and maybe find some news articles about the bust. This cozy little town might have some deep dark secrets. “Are they a threat to the Blood Fury?”

“They’re more of a threat to anyone wearing a badge than that MC, unless the Fury gives them a reason to be a threat. But as long as that club stays in their own lane, no.”

As long as that club stays in their own lane…

Hmm. No one mentioned any mountain clan at The Barn the other night and besides Whip being overly cautious when she and Agnes were stuck along that road, he hadn’t mentioned them by name, either.

She had to assume the Fury was “staying in their own lane” and wondered what it would take for them to swerve out of it to get involved with what sounded like a dangerous group of people.

They were a motorcycle club, not a brotherhood of vigilantes. Right?
