Tessa glanced over to the swing set to make sure Daisy was still playing nice with Dyna by pushing the almost two-year-old on a swing. Surprisingly, she was.

Thankfully, Daisy loved Dyna and treated her like her baby sister. She claimed Cage’s daughter was better than all the dolls she ever got when she was “little.” Daisy refused to believe she was still considered “little.”

And don’t anyone dare try to tell her differently because she would announce very loudly and clearly that they were wrong. That girl was opinionated, to put it mildly.

Ask any of the adults, they’d say she was not only “little,” but a “little tyrant.”

If Tessa had to take care of Daisy instead of Dyna, she wouldn’t be in the predicament she was in now because she would’ve already ripped out her own uterus.

Shit. Tessa realized she had that same sort of attitude when she was Daisy’s age no matter how many times Tammy tried to smack it out of her. If the baby inside her came to be, would he or she have that same damn attitude? Or would the kid be more easy-going like its father?

Or would Tessa and Easy’s combined personalities provide a balance?

She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to imagine what their combined DNA would look like. As a baby, as a toddler, even as a teen.

Holy fuck. A teen? Her heart skipped a beat. It flip-flopped again when a hand squeezed her knee.

She opened her eyes to see Saylor leaning forward, her brow drawn low and a mix of confusion and curiosity on her face.

“I need to tell you something.”

“You already said that, Tess! If you’re trying to worry me, you’ve succeeded. Just say whatever you have to say before you give me a damn heart attack.”

Tessa opened her mouth and all the words she was about to spill got jammed in her throat like a fifty car pile-up.

Saylor bugged her eyes out at Tess and shouted, “What!”

Tess hadn’t told anyone. Not one person. Not yet. But she needed to talk to someone, anyone, who could help her figure things out but wouldn’t judge her or try to make the decisions for her. And Saylor was her ride or die chick. She could trust her club sister to keep it quiet.

She swallowed the stuck words back down and tried again. “I’m…”

Saylor sat up straight. “You’re… Sorry? In pain? In love with Easy? Moving back to Wisconsin? Going back to school? What?”

“Pregnant.”

Saylor blinked in slow motion. Then simply stared at her without blinking for the longest time.

With every second that passed, Saylor’s face got paler and her gaping jaw dropped lower. Tessa was surprised when it didn’t hit the floor.

“Holy shit,” Saylor whispered. “Holy shit.” She surged from her chair, pressing fingers to her mouth, her blue eyes wide. “Holy shit.”

“Okay, that’s not helping.”

Saylor shook her head. “Umm. I don’t know what else to say. I actually wasn’t expecting that. I mean, it wasn’t even on my radar. Just… Hooooooooly shiiiiiiiiit.”

“The only reason I’m telling you right now is because I have a favor to ask. I have an appointment with Carly Bryson tomorrow morning and I need… I need you…” Just get it out, Tess! “Will you go with me?”

“Hold up! I can’t think about tomorrow yet! The bomb you just dropped still hasn’t sunk in. Because… Holy fucking shit.”

Tess blew out a sharp breath. “Don’t make me regret telling you.”

“Hold on. Shouldn’t Easy be going with you? Unless…” Her eyes widened. “It’s not his?”

“It’s his,” Tessa confirmed.

“Holy shit.”

“Okay—”

Saylor cut her off. “Have you talked to him?”

“Who? Easy or my brother, E’s president?”

“Hell, either. But let’s start with Easy since… Holy shit… Triiiiiiiip…” Saylor groaned and winced at the same time.

Just thinking about telling her brother made her react the same way. “No. Neither know. I’ve already made a complete mess of things and I don’t want this to make it any harder for Easy. With whatever happens tomorrow, and depending on what Carly says… If I need to tell him, I’ll wait until after he deals with Trip.”

“You mean after Trip deals with him. Holy shit. It’s going to be ugly. I don’t blame you for waiting. Trip will lose his shit all over again.” Saylor swiped a hand across her brow like she was wiping off beads of sweat.

“That’s my worry.”

“It’s a valid one. Holy—”

“Stop. I get it. The title of this chapter of my life is Holy Shit. Noted. Can we move on?”

“Are you sure you want an appointment with Carly? If it was me—and sorry, but… thank fuck it isn’t—I would’ve made it elsewhere where no one knew me. Did you consider that?”

She’d considered a lot of things. But Carly Bryson was great and Tessa trusted her to go over every option available without judgment. Even if her options were limited, then she wouldn’t want anyone looking after her but Carly, not some random doctor.
