“Keep… Keep…”

He slapped a hand over her mouth as her hips shot up and slammed into him, driving him as deep as he could go. Then it happened…

The strong ripples pulled at him, milked his cock, driving him over the brink and into the abyss. As he chased her over that edge, he buried his face against her throat and released a long, low, satisfying grunt. For the first time—and definitely not the last—he spilled inside her on purpose and not by accident.

As he came, all he could think about was that he was marking her as his. Only his.

He never thought he would ever only want one woman. But here he was. With the one person who would be his forever and also forever his.

“Mine. Nobody else’s. Never again, Tess. You belong to me.”

Just when he thought he had his life together, just when he thought he had the world figured out, something, someone, came along and proved he was dead wrong.

That someone was Tess.

She had slipped into his room in the dark of night and turned his life inside out and upside down and, fuck him, he didn’t regret it for one damn second.

He was no longer uncertain. He was now damn sure about it all.

About her. About them. And about starting a family.

He remained buried deep inside her, wanting to stay there as long as was physically possible. They clung to each other and neither said a word while their heartbeats slowed, their breathing returned to normal and the beads of sweat dried on their skin.

When he could no longer remain inside her, he carefully slipped out, immediately rolled off the bed and went into the bathroom to clean up and bring her back a wet washcloth. One downfall of not using a wrap was the mess, but that minor inconvenience was worth not having anything between them.

Once he returned to the bed, she held out her hand for the damp cloth. He waved her hand away and took his time to carefully clean her up. When he was finished, he threw it in the hamper she had in the bathroom and on his way back to her, he paused in the bathroom doorway.

She was still lying naked on top of the sheets, in no rush to hide her changing body from him. Thank fuck. Because knowing that body housed a child he helped create made her, if possible, even more beautiful in his eyes.

He had thought it was bullshit when he heard people say pregnant women glowed. He was seeing it right before his own eyes. Whether that was actually from the pregnancy or not, he wasn’t sure. He could be imagining it all.

But he’d like to think his child lit her up from the inside out.

This kid would be a new beginning for them both.

He stepped out of the doorway and headed back to the bed. “While your brother was clubbin’ me, I realized something…”

“That it hurt?” She shifted over enough to pull the top sheet over her and she held the corner up, indicating he should join her.

He did and, once under the covers, they both rolled to face each other. “Fuck. Knew that before it even started.”

“Then, what?”

“If I’m gonna be stuck with someone, kinda glad it’s you.”

She whacked his arm. “That doesn’t sound like an epiphany. That sounds like you’re settling.”

“No, babe, I’m far from settlin’. And I’m teasin’. But here’s the truth… I need you to hear this, Tess… Are you listenin’?”

She nodded.

He said it slowly so she didn’t miss a damn word. “If I had to, I would take a fuckin’ beatin’ every day of my life to be with you.”

He watched a flurry of emotions cross her face. She got annoyed that her hormones made her cry a lot. But he loved that her pregnancy had softened her enough to show those emotions and that she was willing to share them with him.

“Why?” she whispered, her voice thick. “I’m not worth it.”

Once again, that was that fucking past of hers talking. If he needed to, he would spend the rest of his life showing her she was more than worth it and that she meant everything to him.

He would also spend the rest of his days hoping karma bit Tammy in the fucking ass.

“That’s where you’re wrong. To me, you are worth every fuckin’ bruise or broken bone. Bruises disappear and broken bones eventually heal but if we stick together we’ll stand strong in the end.”

She swiped at her eyes. He pulled her hands away and used his thumb to brush away the remaining rogue tear that had slid free.

“You said I belong to you. Do you belong to me?”

He hated those doubts, but he’d work on getting rid of those, too. “Yeah, babe, told you before… Don’t want anyone else but you.” He’d spend every damn day proving that to her, too.
