There was nothing wrong with liking sex. Rather than seeing herself as an enforced toy for pleasure, she was seeing herself as a student.
Gino was her teacher, and seeing as she loved education of any kind, she was more than willing to learn.
“What have you done?” he asked.
“Nothing.” She finished putting the last of her clothes away. She stepped up to him, placed a hand on his chest, and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for the clothes.” She stayed perfectly still, waiting for him to make the first move.
“You’re up to something.”
“I’m not, actually.”
“Last night you were a pain in the ass.”
“I don’t see it like that. I didn’t stop you from touching me.”
“Is that your problem? You think you should have?” he asked.
She sighed. “I liked you touching me. I was scared, but I agreed to this and I’m not going to fight it. You want a toy, and I’ll be one. I’m not very experienced, so you’re going to have to teach me.”
“You think that’s going to be a problem?”
“I don’t know, is it? I’m yours, Mr. Mazza.”
“Gino.”
“Gino.” She smiled. “No tricks here. I just want to live, and I want my father to live.”
He stared at her in silence for a couple of minutes before stepping away. He didn’t say a word, and as she followed him out, she saw the tray had gone.
“You’re allowed to walk the grounds this morning.”
“I am?”
“Yes.” He held out a jacket that had been placed on the bed. “It’s a little cold, and I don’t want you to catch your death.”
She went to him, putting her hands into the arms of the jacket as he helped her. He took over in pulling up the zipper.
Once he was satisfied, he took her hand, leading her out of the room.
She didn’t get a chance to take in her surroundings as he was moving way too fast for her to really see anything. She imagined he had a really nice home, anyway.
A guy like Gino was used to having nice things.
She did notice the men and the guns.
“Do you need so much security?” she asked the moment they were outside.
No matter where they went, she saw men on the alert.
“I’m not a nice guy. I need to make sure I’m surrounded by men I can trust and who are willing to risk their lives for mine.”
“That’s not too extreme?” she asked.
“Like is always extreme. In my world, it’s alive or dead. I choose to live.”
“Fair enough.” She wasn’t going to argue with him.
Gino still held her hand, and they walked away from the house, taking the path. It was a cold morning, and some of the flowers looked to be dying off.
“Have you spoken with my father?” she asked.
“No. He’ll be dealt with when the time is right. For now, he needs to get his legs fixed so he can get my money back. Until then, you’re dealing with the interest.”
She gritted her teeth. It was like he was purposefully trying to find a way of pissing her off.
“Do you take women for payment often?” she asked.
“You’d be surprised how many women are either offered up or throw themselves at me or my men. It’s disgusting, really. I don’t like it.”
She stopped walking. “I disgust you?”
Gino turned to look at her. “No, you don’t. How about that?”
“But I did exactly the same as those women you talk about.”
He laughed. “Are you feeling guilty?”
“No, I just don’t like the thought of you being disgusted with me.”
“You’re telling the truth.”
“I don’t know if it’s something others can stand, but I know I cannot.”
“You don’t disgust me, Avery.” He pressed her up against one of the metal posts. There were empty hanging baskets above them. “Far from it. You excite me.”

Gino cut Avery’s walk short. He had intended to take her throughout the whole of the gardens and even to the paddock where he kept a couple of horses. He got the text through that the cameras were all set up.
He didn’t like to wait around for work to be done.
After dropping Avery back in her room, he’d gone through the security cameras in the bedroom, closet, and bathroom. She would have no privacy, and he could access them through his cell phone.
There was nowhere Avery could go as he’d be able to watch her at every second of every day. Like now. The security crew were long gone, and as he sat at the dining room table, alone, he was watching Avery. She sat on the floor beside her bed, twirling her fork into her spaghetti. She didn’t look exactly thrilled at the prospect of eating.
She was bored.
He’d yet to send up books or a television. He did have them ready, and he wanted to play with her.
Tomorrow, the television would be wheeled into her room, and he already had the movies ready for her to watch.
