Jamison continued, “One tactic that might make either of them agreeable is strongly emphasizing the safety of their women and children. That could convince them to hold off making any moves that might put them at risk. However, that’s also the reason they will destroy anyone trying to infringe on their territory.”

“That’s my worry. If they get caught up in the mix, it’ll fuck this investigation. Our task force might only be working on bringing down the Demons—the connection between the drug cartel and La Cosa Nostra—but we also don’t want to fuck up any investigations at either end.”

“Got that. Look… Let me reach out to Z first and feel him out about the situation as best as I can without getting his hackles raised. If I can get through to him, he can reach out to Romeo. Do you think he should also reach out to the Blood Fury? Is it a possibility that the Demons will keep marching north?” Jamison asked.

“I don’t think so. At least not yet. They’re moving fast but not that fast. We’ll worry about the Blood Fury only if we notice the Demons heading closer in their direction. Or skirting the Angels and Knights’ territories. We really don’t want to broadcast to every fucking other MC what the Demons are doing.”

“Well, they’re a bunch of dumbasses,” burst from the cell phone’s speaker. “There are plenty of other places to peddle their shit without stepping on toes. And, for fuck’s sake, if they keep moving north, they’re going to step on the most dangerous toes of all. And that might be the equivalent of stepping on a land mine.”

“No shit,” Crew agreed. “But my hope is they won’t even try to sell in the Russos’ territory and they’d skirt the greater Pittsburgh area.”

“But if they head too north of the Burgh they’ll be encroaching on the Fury,” Decker pointed out.

Crew sighed. “Fuck these goddamn MCs making my job more difficult.”

“We’re part of one, don’t forget,” Jamison reminded him.

“Not like those.” Crew shook his head. “Okay, do me a solid and talk to your brother, maybe massage his ego a bit to get him to cooperate. And let me know how that goes.”

“We have a family dinner this week, I’ll pull him aside and test the waters.”

“Just don’t test him,” Crew warned. “We don’t want him pulling Fletch and Wilder from their ranks. That’s a sweet spot for them to be in and they need to remain there as long as possible.”

“Got it. That it?”

“Yeah, thanks, brother. Give Bella a big, fat kiss from me, with tongue, and tell her about the cupcakes. I want to taste her sweet filling.”

“Fuck off,” came Jamison’s reply before the call disconnected.

When Decker shook his head, Crew asked, “What? You don’t want stuffed cupcakes?”

“Jamison’s going to stuff one up your ass.”

“That’s a quick way to get a sugar high.” Crew slapped his hands against his thighs. “All right. Since you refuse to give me a hickey, I guess I’ll bounce so you can go do your thing.” He wiggled his eyebrows. “You lucky fucking bastard.”

Decker grinned but lost it quickly when he said, “Before you go, I have something else I need to talk to you about.”

Crew frowned. “What?”

“This arrangement I have with Sloane.”

The task force leader downed the remainder of his beer before asking, “Is it illegal?”

“No.”

“Then I don’t give a fuck what you two are doing. Unless you have video. Then I want to see it.”

“Yeah, so you can broadcast it at The Plant like you did Finn’s performances at The Peach Pit?”

Crew grinned. “Can’t keep talent like that a secret. Speaking of Finn…” He glanced around. “Where is that pussy?”

“In Val’s room.”

“Okay, let’s hear what you have to tell me.”

“So, Sloane has a sister—”

His gray eyes lit up like Sloane hadn’t already told him that info. “Hot damn. Is she older or younger?”

“Younger. And she’s not for you. She’s addicted to meth.”

“Shiiiiiit,” Crew drew out.

“And she’s tangled up with the Demons.”

“Fuuuuck.”

Decker understood Crew’s reaction since his had been the same. He quickly explained how he and Sloane originally met down at the party house in West Virginia and then went over the details of the arrangement they made in her motel room.

When he was finished, Crew wore a deep frown. “Why am I only hearing about this now?”

“Maybe because it wasn’t your business?”

“Bullshit. Anything to do with the Demons is my business. So, if you didn’t think it was, then why do you think it is now?”

“Because I would like to get the task force involved.”

“Deck…”

Decker rushed to explain. “Not in a direct way but since our investigation has all of us involved with the Demons in one capacity or another, it wouldn’t take much for our team to keep eyes and ears open for this woman while going about our tasks.”
