“Hey, beautiful,” he whispers in my mind as he rubs his furry side against me. His eyes twinkle with the mischief I’ve come to adore.
“Hey there, yourself,” I mentally tell him, nudging Gabe lightly as I scoop up my giggling son, Kieran. He wraps his little arms around my neck, and I plant a soft kiss on his chubby cheek “Lunch is ready,” I announce, knowing the little ones aren’t going to want to stop playing to eat.
My mate turns, and I can’t help but admire the way he shifts with purpose, transforming before my eyes. He strides over to the patio table, pulling on his fitted t-shirt and sweatpants with a practiced nonchalance that makes my heart race. But it’s his rugged confidence and the fire in his eyes that gets to me every damn time.
“I’m starving,” Gabe mutters, casting me a glance filled with a hunger that goes beyond food, and I feel a delicious shiver run down my spine. My girly bits tingle with anticipation. Darn, I love the way my mate thinks.
“No naps!” The three little screeches of outrage erupt from our boys, and I can’t help but chuckle at the chaos exploding in our kitchen.
“But you need to take a nap if you're going to grow up to be big, strong polar bear shifters,” my mate insists, his deep voice leaving no room for argument. His undeniable power still turns my insides to mush. I love the way he takes charge.
I stand there, watching the scene unfold, the air sparkling with laughter and liveliness. This little family of ours is everything I never knew I wanted. Between the playful squabbles and the sweet chaos, it feels like I’m standing in the center of my universe, and it’s a brilliant, wild ride.
