Me: Okay, fine, you prick. I AM planning something. A few things. Whatever. But it’s only because K’s supposed romantic plans sucked goat tits. You don’t need to worry. It’s all first-class shit. They’re gonna have the time of their lives, and our tightwad billionaire bestie isn’t even going to have to pay for any of it. It’s the best of both worlds.
Wes: Fucking hell. I knew it. Kline is going to put your balls in a goddamn vise, and there’s no way I’m letting you take me down as an accomplice.
Big surprise. Whiny fucking Whitney was already crying his little baby tears. It was time to set his ass straight.
Me: All right, sister. I know your panties are already chafing over this, but you’re going to have to man up and get the hell over it. You can’t tell him shit about this because if you do, I’ll bury you in a shallow grave of amateur porn from all our wild years in Vegas. I’m sure the tabloids would have a field day with grainy sex videos of the steel-faced owner of the Mavericks.
Wes: Goddammit, Thatch. I don’t want to be involved in your stupid shit.
Me: Yeah, well, you only have yourself to blame for that, son. You should probably remind yourself of this conversation the next time you want to ask questions…
Wes: I hate you so much right now.
Me: I love you too, buddy. And thanks for keeping this on the down-low. I’m so glad we were able to come to this agreement where we understand each other.
Wes: You are such an asshole, you know that?
Pfft. As long as he kept his goddamn mouth shut, I didn’t care what he thought of me.
Come hell or high water, my best friend’s wife was going to have a Valentine’s getaway she’d never forget. All because of me.
Cabo, Thursday, May 25th
“You almost ready, baby?” Kline called from the living room area of our far-too-big-for-two-people luxurious suite at the Diamond. Apparently, the resort was world-renowned and owned by Antonio Diamond, a wealthy man who just so happened to be a business acquaintance of my wonderful, surprise-getaway-planning husband. Upon our arrival, we’d been greeted personally, served champagne, and escorted to our room by a man who was to be our personal concierge.
I had to admit, my husband was off to a pretty dang good start in making formal celebrations of love a little less intimidating.
“Only a few more minutes!” I answered, carefully adding another layer of mascara to my eyelashes.
This was my first-ever visit to Cabo, and it had only taken one step out onto the balcony of our suite to understand the beauty of it. With white sand beaches and aquamarine water and refreshing saltwater air, it was downright breathtaking.
But I wanted to look hot enough tonight that Kline couldn’t tear his eyes away from me to see any of it.
We’d only been in Cabo for a few hours, but I was quickly realizing that celebrating Valentine’s Day in May was one of the best ideas my husband had ever had, reverse of the curse or not. We’d already had more hot sex than most of the married women I knew had had in the last two weeks combined, and there were still three more days left to set some kind of insane record that was worthy of a Reddit thread.
Once I finished with my mascara and added a hint of pink to my lips, I stepped back and gave tonight’s dinner attire a quick once-over in the huge master bathroom mirror, making sure all the necessary things were in place.
Flowy white linen dress? Check.
Strappy nude heels? Check.
Blond hair sporting sexy beach waves? Check.
Enough visible cleavage to turn my ass man into a boob aficionado? Check, check.
I smiled at myself, did a little twirl, and strode out of the bathroom, through the master bedroom, and into the living room of the palatial suite. A mischievous grin crested my lips when I walked past our bed, still messy from our earlier hot afternoon sex romp after we’d arrived in Cabo via a private jet and a limo ride from the airport. And the delectable view that was my husband standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling doors that led out onto the balcony of the living room only made it grow.
Dressed in a black suit, crisp white shirt, and no tie, my man was handsome.
The instant he turned around and met my eyes, a slow, seductive-as-hell smirk formed at the corners of his lips and put my measly little smile to shame. When Kline Brooks looked at me like that, I knew he was thinking dirty. “Damn, baby. You look incredible,” he said and closed the distance between us to press a delicious kiss to my lips. It was short but sexy, and the feel of his tongue swirling around mine made my knees wobble into each other.
