I opened my mouth to tell her to go home. To tell her I didn’t want to see her again. To do anything except what I did.

CHASE

“Have a seat, sunshine.”

With that invitation, I knew my brain had jumped aboard the same train as my body. The situation with her dad would be fucking complicated, but this girl was mine. I knew it down to my bones. I’d have to wait until her birthday, but Justice had said it was only a couple of months away. Which was going to be pure hell, especially since I intended to have her here with me as much as possible. But I’d hold out, if only out of respect for her father because legally, nothing kept us apart.

When the day came, nothing would keep me from coming for her. Then I’d have my ring on her finger and my kid in her belly before anyone could try to take her away.

Fuck. I couldn’t wait to see her round with my baby, her swollen breasts dripping with milk. Everyone who looked at her would know without a doubt that she’d been claimed.

“Thanks.”

I gestured to a coat tree next to the door, and she hung up her outerwear before padding across the carpet to one of the chairs in front of my desk. Then she sat down, crossing one shapely leg over the other and clasping her hands in her lap.

Those thighs would feel amazing wrapped around my head.

For the love of everything holy, I needed to get a fucking grip on myself before I fell so deep into a fantasy that I came like a damn teenager without even touching her.

“You can call me Chase, Jenna,” I told her with a smile. “So you want to work with babies?”

Her face lit up as she nodded. “I love kids, but I want to make a difference. Not that what my mom does isn’t important, but…”

“I get it,” I assured her with a smile. “I take it you love being from a big family?”

Jenna giggled and tilted her head to the side, sending her long blond hair cascading over her shoulder. My hands practically ached to feel those silky locks wrapped around my fists.

“My family is awesome. To be honest…” Her cheeks turned bright red, and she looked everywhere but at me.

“You can tell me anything, sunshine.” I smiled in encouragement when she looked back at me.

“The thing I want most is to have a big family and stay home with my kids.”

She was perfect. So fucking perfect. I hadn’t even realized how much I wanted a family until this moment. Now, I intended to buy a big townhouse in the city and fill every bedroom with a kid.

“I still want to work with children,” she added with a soft smile. “But I think my dad expects me to make it a career when really, I just want to volunteer. I love the idea of being able to help while still being at home with my own babies.” Her smile turned shy, and her face flushed adorably. “That probably seems pretty silly to you.”

“Not in the least,” I said as I stood and walked around the desk, stopping in front of her and leaning my hip back against it. “There is nothing wrong with those dreams, Jenna. And I have no doubt they will come true.”

And soon, she’d know it, too. Especially as she screamed my name while I filled her with my baby batter and planted my kid inside her.

Speaking of soon.

“When is your birthday, sunshine?”

“The first week of April,” she answered, looking at me with curiosity.

Seven weeks. I only had to wait seven weeks to make her mine.

“Certain volunteer spots have an age requirement,” I told her, explaining away my question.

“Oh.” I was sure the disappointment that flashed in her eyes was a figment of my imagination. “That makes sense.”

My mouth curved into a smile, and she double blinked before mirroring my expression. I loved the way she reacted to me, but even more, I loved that she was too innocent to hide her thoughts and emotions.

“Why don’t I show you around? Then we can order lunch and discuss your options.”

Jenna glanced away and frowned. “My dad said not to take up too much of your time. Shouldn’t you just introduce me to the woman in charge of volunteers?”

“Hey.” I leaned forward and gently grasped her chin, forcing her eyes to my face. “First, you can take up as much of my time as you want. You will never bother me. Do you understand?” Relief flooded her expression, and I bit back a grin. “Second, I’m going to oversee everything you do here.” And everywhere else once I was able to have her under my roof.

Part of that thought didn’t sit all that well, though. I didn’t know how I would survive the next couple of months without eyes on her constantly. The problem with that was that Jenna’s “Uncle” Jonah would have her security locked down tight. At least when she was at the hospital, I would be able to see her on their cameras.
