“This evening,” I say, turning in his embrace.
“My parents are expecting us for dinner.”
I knit my brows and gasp. “You can’t be serious?”
“Why not?”
“I just became your fiancée last night. I’m not ready to meet your parents,” I say incredulously.
“You’ll be fine.”
My face heats as my temper starts to rise. I’m getting a little annoyed with his high-handedness. He brings his large hand up to cup my face, then runs his thumb over my lip.
“Trust me,” he breathes.
“How are we going to fix my life?” I demand, instead of offering my trust.
“Trust me,” he repeats.
I narrow my eyes at him, searching his face. I want to protest, but for some reason, I decide to trust him. I nod my assent, just as he leans in to commandeer my lips. I find myself clinging to his T-shirt. I call on my good sense to stay grounded and not wrap my body around him.
His tongue flicks my lower lip as he ends the kiss. I feel thoroughly devoured. Any reservations I had moments ago float away. I stumble to the couch when he releases me.
He chuckles as he disappears into the kitchen to prepare our lunch. I’m grateful for the space. My nerve endings are sizzling.
What are you doing, Sid? You need to get your life back, not fall for this man. Get focused.
Chapter 11
Meet the Family
Clayton
I enjoyed my day with Sidney. Surprisingly, I like having her in my space. I also enjoyed watching her savor my cooking. I made us a light lunch of grilled chicken and salad. Nothing fancy, but you would have thought I made her a steak dinner. I’m still chuckling to myself about her comment.
“You season the hell out of your food. This is great,” she said with wide eyes.
She was so sexy and gorgeous while sitting in my home, eating my food, and sharing my space. I watched her during the wedding planning, taking mental notes. There were things she wanted that she didn’t ask for. I typed them all into my phone and sent them to Delta to make the appropriate changes.
Little does Sidney know, if I can help it, she will have the wedding of her dreams. I’ll move heaven and earth to get her whatever she desires. She will learn this soon enough. When she acknowledges that she’s mine, the world will be at her fingertips.
As I fix my tie, I grin into the mirror hanging beside the front door. I’m not surprised that Gregor texted me to say he won’t be attending tonight’s dinner. However, that means all the attention will be on me and Sid.
I’m not concerned. Tonight has a purpose and I will get the results necessary for me to move forward. That is a guarantee. I’ve dotted all my i’s and crossed each one of my t’s. I’m a meticulous man. When I go after something, I always have a plan.
“You two look amazing,” Ashley gushes, causing me to turn.
For the second time today, Sidney has rendered me speechless. I thought she was gorgeous when I walked into the closet this morning to find her hair wild and her body covered in one of my shirts. Now, I have no words for her beauty.
Sidney’s hair is still wild, with the right side brushed back away from her face, a red rose looks as if it’s holding the mass back. Her sexy body is draped in an off-the-shoulder silver evening gown. The gown has a split on the right side, her thick thigh is peaking through. I lick my lips and groan. The red heel wrapping her ankle shows off her cute toes. It’s the sexiest sight I’ve ever seen.
I’ll be sending Ashley another thousand-dollar bonus. Sidney looks fabulous. I know it’s not all Ashley’s work, but she’s done well with the magnificence given to her.
I hold my hand out for Sidney to come to me. I’m more than pleased when she takes my hand, moving into me without a thought. I love that she’s becoming more and more responsive to me.
I don’t hold back the smile of satisfaction that creases my lips. I peck her red lips, needing just a taste to hold me over for now. When I look into her eyes, I can see how affected she is. She dips her beautiful browns away from me, but I’m not allowing it.
I pinch her chin, lifting her head. Our gazes lock and I hold her stare. I love her defiance that sets in. I lean in, only inches from her lips.
“Relax, kitten. You can put the claws away,” I say, not able to hide the humor in my voice.
“Don’t we have someplace to be?” she says breathlessly.
“That, we do,” I reply, pecking her lips once more.
The evening has become chilly, so I turn for her cape and help her into it, then throw on my lightweight coat before leading both ladies out of the apartment onto the elevator. Placing Sidney in front of me, I wrap my arms around her for the ride down. Again, she melts into me, comfort radiating from her.
